My Hornets Hairshirt - still nice and itchy after 35 years of fandom. I hang it up each offseason and around this time of year, forgetfully peek in the closet. Wasn't that uncomfortable. Slip it on. Scratch, scratch. Thanks for keeping it interesting, fellas. Here's to our pre-opener moment of hope.

It sucks that Martin can't get that knee right. From a depth perspective we really need him.

15 years as a member on this board, and probably a year or two before that of anon lurking. I'm ready for a decent team with long-term promise. will this be the year? probably not, but there's at least reason for hope before the first game is played.

Have we had an update on Martins knee other than it's sore? I swear that thing has been sore for over a year now.

I don't take much away, season-wise, from opening night. I was at the 2011-12 opener when we beat Milwaukee. Won six games the rest of the season.

In 2009 we got smacked by like 45 versus Boston. Wound up going 44-38 and making the playoffs.

he will eventually, no doubt, just curious if we think cliff plays him after 1 day.... he probably does.

he's a vet, so all the reservations Clifford has about someone missing training camp go out the window, no questions asked.

That said, Ish is better equipped than most to just come in at short notice and play low end backup to 3rd string level basketball, he's done that his whole career.

I would honestly give NSj the first run with the subs, if he looks lost then I would put Ish in for the 2nd bench stint.

Ish hasn't played in preseason, doubt he is in game shape right now tbh.

Just watched Cliff's pregame press conference, mentioned that Theo would be guarding Trae a bit, so seems that Theo will be ready to go tonight.

Clifford mentions they will try and match Terry Rozier's minutes with Trae Young. Says Terry is a "Very good, smart defender"

Clifford calling Terry a very good smart Defender is pretty hilarious. He's probably the best option we have at the moment, but that doesn't make it very good

Both. He first mentioned that they'd try to match Terry minutes with Trae as Terry will be the main guy guarding him, but then mentioned that Theo and Brandon will be guarding him too. And yes, him saying Terry is a good defender is absurd.

For those who have cable you should have free NBA league pass for the 1st week of the season. Just check your NBA channels on your guide.

*The only negative is the Hornets games will likely be blacked out if you live in NC.

Clifford also confuses having the tools to be good at something with actual results on a frequent basis so this isn't surprising coming from him.

He sees Terry's 6'9 wingspan and quick hands and thinks GoOd DeFeNdEr

Hope we get a nice opening night win. It's always a pleasure to see Trae Young pout after a loss.
