Re: Celts Hungry for a Title, Start By Eating Big Apple! Opening Night Victory Cigar vs NYK 10/25
Hauser, Pritchard and Kornet were total zeros tonight. Pritch and Hauser only exist to make 3's. They were 1-8 from the floor. Wish Joe gave Mykhailiuk a chance to see if his shot was dropping. Of course, Brown playing like a $7M/Year player screwed the team tonight. His loose handle holds him back from driving as he can't keep his dribble against pressure. Still, Joe needs to develop the bench, especially for nights (like tonight) when Hauser and Pritch can't find the hole. I sure as hell hope that Joe doesn't play Porzingis 38 minutes too often. Want him to hold together for the playoffs. I voted TATUM despite an OUTSTANDING game by Porzingis. Congratulations to Pritch for replacing Zinger and making those 2 Free Throws. Derrick White came up BIG, in an understated way, especially after that early collision with Mitchell Robinson. Old Al Horford is better than he's given credit for, especially if they limit him to four 6 minute stretches
An alternative perspective:
Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)
+34.5 Jayson Tatum (38 minutes)
+29.5 Kristaps Porzingis (38 minutes)
+16.5 Derrick White (32 minutes)
+11 Al Horford (26 minutes)
+8.5 Jaylen Brown (38 minutes)
+6 Jrue Holiday (35 minutes)
+2 Payton Pritchard (11 minutes)
+1.5 Luke Kornet (8 minutes)
-1 Sam Hauser (14 minutes)
Team Total = 108.5

Dynamic duo, KP and JT. Cigar goes to the unicorn, honorary ass of shame to white belt Joe and Jaylen Black Hole Brown.

Porzingis looked awesome and was clutch down the stretch.

What is New York’s issue with KP anyway? Did he **** talk them or is just that he wasn’t the second coming?

Don’t forget to give some credit to FastPP for some big balls free throws!! We all saw last year how certain players choke at the end of games. Lol

Voted KP highest scoring debut for Cs in front of that Knicks crowd !
WE found a way to get the W !
Knicks couldn't miss from 3, Houser and PP couldn't hit ****
Then PP sealed it with 2 HUge FTs
Tatum was great, Big Al had a couple huge 3s, Holiday was sensational on D and had a couple huge shots too
opening day WIN

To get your 1st cigar on your debut is something else. Great job KP, you can smoke it.
This is the kind of game we always lost, especially with Mazzulla coaching last season. Don't know if the new assistants also made a difference, but KP got us back in the lead. We recovered from Brown's brainfarts luckily. If you noticed they kept the ball out of JB's hands in last minutes. Hope Brown realises that he isn't the 2nd guy on this team anymore.

The most important thing is this win keeps the Celtics tied and on pace with the Charlotte Hornets for the best record in the East

Re: Celts Hungry for a Title, Start By Eating Big Apple! Opening Night Victory Cigar vs NYK 10/25
Good win. I was getting pretty nervous when we were down by 6, knicks had the ball and only a few mins left. Thought we were gonna lose.
But in the end, we simply had more talent, more weapons and we got it done.
I'll take it, It wasn't pretty but a win is a win. And the Knicks always play us tough - they were treating it like their championship and we still pulled it out, even though we had 2 new starters so we're still trying to gel as a team with those new pieces added in. Not to mention we have a bunch of new coaches so our staff is still trying to gel and figure out how they will work together.
So like Celtics17Pride said, we'll look better after 20+ games.
And hopefully our 7th-9th guys get better..
KP for the Victory cigar! Honorable mention to Tatum, then white. Jrue had some solid plays too. JB had some rough moments but he is having to adjust to a new role - he hasn't played on a team with this many legit offensive weapons since he was like 20 yrs old and was only getting like 15 PPG. It might take him awhile to adjust but he'll be fine.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Tatum 34/11/4/2/1 on a 69% TS.
Zinger 30/8/4 blocks on a 78% TS lmao, and +13 in a tight win.
Jaylen made a few nice reads, but Joe and the staff just need to integrate him more within the offense.
A lot of the bad tonight just looked like unfamiliarity IMO, guys running to the same spots on the floor, turnovers because the spacing was funky.
The defense was mostly insane, their defensive upside is extremely high.

Some things to like and quite about to not be so thrilled about. They’ve looked so good at times in the preseason it’s easy to forget there’s a lot of new pieces here and it could take some time for things to be consistent.
To be even more optimistic I’m sure we would have lost this game in the past.

Yes. And overall as a team, we were able to settle down, show some better composure and executive better on both ends of the floor down the stretch after the game was going sideways there - between Knicks with a 6 point lead and things were getting wild with all those technical fouls, bodies flying around, refs losing control of the game.
Credit to our players and coaches for sticking together, settling down and pulling it out in the end.

Jaylen made some dopey plays tonight.
They need to run actual plays for Hauser.
Still.
This team will be awesome.

A win is a win. Too much of the same bad habits. Need to find other ways to score other than 3 ball.
