The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Whomever. Traditionally, the Jazz have 82 trap games every season. I suppose it depends how you look at it. It could be a trap game for the Kings, and also a trap game for the Jazz if we at some point switch our goals and hope for a tank.

What's the rotation looking like for the Jazz? Olynyk getting a lot of time with Collins there?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Olynyk is an important connective piece so I'm sure he'll get plenty of time but Collins will be the starter.

Have the Jazz defended a single 3 tonight?

Feels like we have too many guys in the rotation to get any rhythm on both ends of the floor. The kings are good but we aren't in the game at all.

It is only game 1 but that 1st half tells me the Jazz need a real floor general

Sac shooting lights out. Just one of those games. Jazz should settle in once we figure out a rotation. Feels like a preseason game with random lineups.

Is it too late to cancel my Jazz+ subscription. Obviously we will be worse than last year.

The kings are really good and wasn't expecting a win anyway. We may start 0-4. Jazz had no rhythm on either end of the floor.

I was going to sign up for it, but then I remembered the roster and thought, maybe next year.
I expect the Jazz to win 30ish games this season. I'm okay with that, but I'd really rather watch young players, and players who might have a future on the team play, even if it's ugly, instead of watching a bunch of guys who have average ceilings and who don't have a long term future with the Jazz.

Re: Game 1: Sacramento Kings (0-0) @ Utah Jazz (0-0)
There’s been a fair amount of talk on social media about the Jazz being a play in or even a playoff team this year. It’s only one game, but I anticipate we won’t hear much more of that for a while. That was an extremely discombobulated game and the lack of a floor general coupled with bad shooting, which has carried over from preseason, could make for a very long year.

If your opponent shoots almost twice as many three pointers than you, and with a better percentage, you are going to lose.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Our deffense was terrible. They shot well, but they were alone most of their tries.
It was very discouraging game. Very dissapointed.

Re: Game 1: Sacramento Kings (0-0) @ Utah Jazz (0-0)
The Jazz stuck with the zone defense for the entire first half and even started the second half in a zone even though it wasn't working. Hardy stuck to it way too long in a Snyder-esque display of lack of adjustment. The first half really sealed the game, the second half was much closer, even though the Kings still managed to find a lot of mis-matches in their advantage like having Sabonis close to the basket with one of the guards defending him.
Clarkson didn't look good even though he finished with 24 points. It felt to me like he was really struggling to create separation and open looks for himself. No one really stood out other than (surprisingly) Collins, who was actually decent, and it looks like I may end up being wrong in saying that I can't see him averaging more than 13 and 7. Apparently, there are plenty of rebounds to go around.
George, while not spectacular, looked like he belonged out there and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he manages to become a starter by the second half of the season.
Overall, this game was pretty deflating.

I am glad I missed this game and glad I didn't bet the Over on Jazz season wins.
Last season the the Jazz were competitive in most of the games. For the '22 opening game, the Jazz defeated the eventual champion Nuggets 123-102. For this season's opening game, the Kings took an 8 point first quarter lead and never looked back in route to scoring 130 points and 16 point win.

Yep. Last season the Jazz very rarely lost in a blowout, especially before they decided to tank. It took quite a while for the Jazz until they were blown out last season IIRC, and here we are getting blown out at home in the first game of the season. Disappointing.
