“There’s a sense of pride, there’s an edge you have to have to play here. I can only imagine the love, the reception, if you hung one of those banners up. It would be incredible — it’s going to be incredible. I know it.” —Jayson Tatum

We saw good and bad JB tonight. Some really bad even, but he did lead that bench unit that got us up 9 again, led the team in assists, and 2nd behind Zinger in +/- and did grab that big defensive board when we were getting crushed on the glass and the game was still up for grabs. Do better JB but he also did some good too.

I think it's going to take a little while for these guys how to figure out to play together.

That doesn't change the fact that I do have major concerns about this team's death because I don't think Hauser and Pritchard are going to cut it.

Damn that’s something I hadn’t considered.

Seriously though the bench is going to have to shoot well to be effective. Otoh NY is probably the deepest team in the league (which isn’t saying much these days) so there’s that part of it as well.

Someone with Ghost in their username, randomly talking about death, right before halloween.

Spooky, imo.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

can't trade him for 1 year, after signing the supermax.

This Team is Deep. Keep the Starters at 30 mins or less.

Might want to extend to a 10-Man Lineup?

If the bench makes shots then the starters wouldn't have to play a lot.

But Horford was the only bright spot off the bench.

If PP and Sam made shots, Joe would have sat the starters more.

We'll have to wait after 20 games to see if the bench needs an upgrade.

Maybe this is just one of those nights for Sam and PP.

Good point. Svi should have been in this Game, too. Lamar and Brissett, as well.
At least for small stints. Get their feet wet, so to speak.

Not a fan of playing a bunch of guys for small minutes. I generally prefer that whatever your rotation is, you give guys at least 10 minutes. Or plan to at least. But when you start using guys for tiny spurts, especially shooters, I think you can end up with guys feeling rushed or trying to do too much so they flash in their short time.

That being said, Tatum/Brown/Porzingis/Holiday all played more minutes than I’d like, so there’s room to probably add another guy to the rotation if you give him those minutes to bring those guys back down.

I do think Jaylen is going to have to adjust. I go back to that 08 team always talked about Ray having to sacrifice the most. KG’s play style as a big was separate from Pierce/Ray on the perimeter. But Ray had to give up his all around game to play off of Pierce to make it work because there was more overlap there.

I think some of that dynamic will exist with Tatum/Porzingis/Brown. Porzingis’ style is separate from Tatum/Brown, who do have overlap. So that’s where I think more sacrifice is needed. Tatum is the best player on the team and Porzingis is the guy who beat compliments him as a second option. I think Brown, at least in the minutes he shares with them, is going to have to impact the game in a more complimentary way vs focal point style.

yeah, if Haus and Pritch are a part of the rotation you need to keep playing them a couple more games (unless their shot improves), but their rope can't be endless. we are going for a chip, not babysitting preseason stars. They gave up Smart, I want performers at every spot, do your job and all is well!

I am not concerned about p p n sam houser.. They only had a few shots and missed they will be fine.. On the other hand jaylen brown Finding his way on a team with so many scores. They wont need him to scorer as much.. How well he adjusts or not is by far boston's biggest Is challenge.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Hold on. We need to handle our yellow cards to some longtime posters in that game thread. Holy cow. Whining baker JB, lack of bench okay, Mazulla .

It is game 1. My god.
