I wanted to return to this for a moment. Would it really be a blessing in disguise? Let's say Darnold somehow ends up starting the rest of the year. He plays pretty well, we finish the season 11-6, host a playoff game, win one on the road where the D really shows up, and then we lose in the NFC Championship game. Darnold plays okay but not great.
Big J, what do we do with Darnold and our QB situation at that point?
If Darnold plays well enough to get us to the playoffs we should run it back with him. He’s more physically talented than any QB that Kyle has worked with besides RG3 and Trey, so he probably has enough untapped potential to be a legit option. If Darnold stinks then we’re still without a legit championship level QB, and we need to find one. Not saying we should dump Purdy, because even I think he’d be an awesome backup QB.

So the 2nd year guy has to win a championship for you to want him to be the QB going forward. But the guy who is in his 6th year with 60 games played just has to make the playoffs when the team is already 5-2 for you to be okay with him being the starter again next year.
The definition of stupidity, lol
