Rea;;y fun one in San Antonio. Grant with 17/6 so far. He wanted a place where he could stretch and grow and get more important minutes. That is definitely happening with Dallas. Dereck Lively is impressive topo.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Grant played well.
He's a better fit with the Mavs.

Mavs should sign Blake Griffin so that they'll have a Blake-Lively combo.

Brogdon still a really good player. No way he finishes the season in POR. They’ll move him on for something of value by the deadline.

It’s one game but the two guys their previous teams couldn’t want to get rid of (Ayton and Brogdon) currently both with a +/- of 0 in a 20 point blowout. Sample size I know, I just found it interesting for tonight.

Both the Pistons and Nets took really deep, contested threes to close out and lose games when they were only down 1 point.

I truly think we would have kept him if the Jrue trade happened earlier. It didn’t make sense to go into the 2nd apron to keep Grant, but now that we’re already there (and Rob is gone in the process) I bet they would go back and keep him if they could. Might mean no long term extension for Pritchard to help free up some of the money in the out years, but that’s a trade they’d make IMO.

But the Jrue trade didn't happen earlier. So it's kind of a pointless hypothetical.
Maybe we would have resigned Grant. Maybe we wouldn't have. We'll never know.
What we do know, is Grant is making over $13 mil a year now. It makes sense for a team to pay him that kind of money if he's your 3rd best player (like apparently he is on the Mavs). It makes much less sense to pay that kind of money for a guy to be your 7th or 8th best player (especially when you have so much $ already tied to your core guys Tatum, Brown, KP, Jrue, White, Al. JB on a supermax, Tatum will sign supermax next offseason).
Yes, we're over the 2nd apron, but all owners have a limit to their spending. Just because we're over the 2nd apron, doesn't mean the owners can just keep spending like crazy, and give tons of money to average players. With so much $ tied to the core 6 guys, we have to really watch our spending for the rest of the roster.
Also, Grant was a RFA. He chose Dallas. He wanted Dallas and Dallas wanted him. Sure, we could've matched the offer and brought him back to Boston, but then you're bringing back a guy who doesn't want to be here - who wants to be in Dallas. You're forcing this guy who's entering his 5th season, entering the prime of his career to come off the bench as a 7th man or 8th man, when he wants to be in Dallas as starting and being their 3rd best player. That's kind of a dick move.
Also, Grant is a 4 and Rob is a 5 so I don't think losing Rob would have really affected our likelihood to match Grant's offer all that much.
Lastly, Grant is not that good.
?s=20
And he's still running his mouth to the refs too much.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Detroit started Hayes, Thompson, Stewart and Duren alongside Cunningham. That's like some 1980 spacing right there. Talk about setting up your franchise player for failure. Yikes.

Yeah. That's dumb. I think Bogdanovic needs to start and they should make sure that between these 4 guys, they have at least 1 of them on the floor at all times and whenever possible they should have 2 (or more) of them on the floor: Bogdanovic, Harris, Burks, Sasser.

Self-professed best scorer in the league Tyler Herro went 7/24 and not ft attempts. Cody 'Michael Jeffrey' Martin with 2 points. You'd think we had 3 titles in 4 years the way teams play up against us.

It's not right how other players treat generational talents coming from Europe. NBA has to crack down on this type of behavior.

I suck at geography. You're right. Siakam is from Cameroon. Theis should be careful not injuring other players' feet with his face.
