Talking about short careers, how could anyone forget former overall #1 pick Greg Oden, who played a grand total of 66 games in his brief NBA career. He's now the Director of Basketball Operations for Butler University.

Mo Bamba, Mo Problems.

Let it be known that I drafted SGA in BAF in that draft, who the Magic had the opportunity to take. I had Kemba Walker at the time. The Magic did not have a point guard of note.

This is not to toot my own horn so much as laugh at how honest to god stupid real teams can be as well as us.

Or you can look at the Light Years Warriors... who drafted James Wiseman at #2.

Knicks To Exercise 2024/25 Team Option On Quentin Grimes

October 26th 2023 at 6:32pm CST by Tristan Tucker
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2023/10/knicks-to-exercise-2024-25-team-option-on-quentin-grimes.html
The Knicks are exercising their 2024/25 team option on guard Quentin Grimes, according to SNY’s Ian Begley
Read on Twitter
. Because his fourth-year option is being picked up, Grimes is eligible for a rookie-scale extension next offseason.

Grimes, 23, averages 9.2 points across 118 career appearances (73 starts). As the No. 25 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Grimes will earn $4,296,682 in ’24/25. As Begley notes, this is a formality for most players with rookie scale team options and due to their affordable nature, they’re rarely declined, though it does happen.

Grimes has evolved into a key piece during his time with the Knicks, impressing in his rookie season before essentially becoming a full-time starter the following year. He jumped up to averaging 11.3 points with New York last season and scored 11 points in his ’23/24 debut on Wednesday against the Celtics.

It seems to me that small market teams are raising the price for teams that are openly linking themselves to players. The Jazz were asking from the Knicks way more than they got from Cleveland and similarly the blazers probably asked way more from the heat than they got from Milwaukee. The 76ers maybe doing the same thing with Harden and clippers.

Lesson for the knicks should be that they should not openly flaunt another teams star or super star player. I am thinking about Embid or OG.

no they weren't. Cleveland clearly gave them a better offer than we were offering. and the bucks clearly gave them a better offer than the heat. the heat didn't even have the ability to make as good an offer. they just took the best offer in both cases.

Have to agree with Perry here. Mitchell can't live up to his hype. Back in the day, the Knicks would double and triple Michael Jordan he would still put up 50. All it took for the Knicks to slow down Mitchell in the playoffs was to put either Grimes or Hart on him, while bringing a double by their big man from time to time. Mitchell ain't no Jordan and he ain't no Kobe.

Mitchell is not worth the prices that Utah was asking - and that Cleveland will ask. Only fools pay that price.

Mitchell is a great player but not a legit franchise talent - and he would absolutely, positively be a terrible fit alongside Brunson (who needs a defensive caddy to cover for his limitations).

I think the Cavs paid Utah was equivalent to what they were asking the Knicks. And the Bucks package was better than any package Miami could offer without giving up Butler or Bam.
