I don't think we should be cheering for physicality like the flagrant. The game isn't intended to be a contact sport, that's why Naismith put the goals in the air. I understand the response by PJ, but it's bad magic. This cursed franchise will have the receipt be a brutal injury to a star player.

I couldn't watch again tonight but kept up with the boxscore. Lamelo seemed way off again seems like.

Same here, and LaMelo’s poor shooting is a big concern. Appears he did a lot of other things to contribute, but….
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

This team will go as far as Mark will. We are gonna lose everytime he has a off game.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

They showed a cliff interview in the pregame where he was saying or suggesting LaMelo isn't quite back to speed yet. I would believe it, seems a step or two behind.

Cliff seems to love Miller though.

You guys aggressively tried to double/trap/flash to Cade after every pick and roll its like your coach thought he is prime Steph Curry or something out there. Led to some TOs for sure but also left some of the other Pistons a bit to open or able to play 4 on 3 after Cade got a pass out.

Not sure if that's because Clifford watched Cade's 30 points against Miami or if he just felt like the "other guys" weren't good enough to win if Cade got shut down.

The refs also deserve credit for being extra trash. Looks like the NBA still has the worst in North American pro sports.

Piston fan just came over as I heard y'all had some fun AI art. But this is definitely my feeling in the game, like the refs wanted to steal the show lmao. Friendly rivalry is good to build, hopefully the guys can reduce some of the chippy nature of this game but keep the intensity and rivalry!

Brandon had this for Stewart after he was trying to punk him all game. I really, really like what I've seen from Miller so far.

honestly wasn't even that hard of a foul

I mean, when you go elbow-first at a guy's head whom you've already had confrontations with, in a game that is already well over, that's the easiest F2 you're gonna find. Probably gets an extra game of "rest" from Adam Silver for good measure.

If you think PJ is going to get suspended over that you're delusional. I don't condone that kinda **** but gah damn he had it coming.

If he doesn't, he'll have Stewart to thank for not retaliating, which would've gotten both a night off. Clear intent to injure there with an elbow to the head of an airborne player, especially given the context. Getting annoyed with Stewart is fine and all but he's wasn't cheap-shotting dudes. Take the L and go back to the locker room.

no way to sugar coat it, their bigs **** dominated us
that being said, pistons fouled us on like 95% of our possessions. classic 80s pistons.
imagine how much better we would be if mitch wasn't terrible at his job
we will be bottom 10 in league in made 3s and bottom 5 3pt %
miller was solid

It's proved last night we need a 3rd center as a back up cause last night won't be the only time we'll be struggling with foul trouble. I don't know maybe Biz or bring the rookie over early.
Really impressed last night with Miller though

Yep, classic goon ball. Foul early, foul often - foul so much that you dare the refs to call every instance (which they didn't).

Refs never allowed the game to get into a flow. When we finally tried to match the Pistons physicality, we were getting quick whistles. The refs didn't start to try to clean the game up (balance things) until they already let it get out of control and cleaning up = officiating ****. As an aside, the little blonde had two bad out-of-bounds calls, including one on a Melo made three that was in crunch time.

I rarely complain about refs - feels dirty - but last night's officiating was a bit of an obscenity.

This said, agree - DET was more intense and physical from the tip and made our big, 'tough' front court look weak - I was particularly disappointed with Nick - foul trouble is foul trouble but effort is effort. Both he and Mark should be embarrassed by their lack of work on the boards. If the officiating was standard-issue, still a good chance we lose this game.

Gordo looked great (please stay healthy), Terry reverted from Scary Terry to Vary Terry, Melo ain't there yet, Miller looked excellent, Theo looks like our backup, PJ was adequate, our front court didn't show up (including Thor - I hope things click with Thor at some point, but he's such a non-factor right now). Also, I keep asking myself why Duren isn't on the roster.
