If we lose a draft pick because we didn’t take James on this road trip, I might sit this season out. That would be such a trash conclusion that I’d have to step away.

Silver is a real a-hole. So tired of this guy.
The Sixers are doing the right thing in keeping the cancer away. So now the league is going to tell teams what transactions they have to make? Utter garbage.
If Silver wants Harden to play... then let's get some "league assistance" like the Lakers and make the Clips pony up an acceptable offer. Or tell Harden's agent he has to publicly open up the destination list beyond LA.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Harden had a 2 weeks unexcused absence from the team & his employer rightfully told him he has to miss this work trip. On what planet is that worth an investigation? Does Harden work for the Sixers or do the Sixers work for him at his whim?

Nothing is going to happen. Harden didn't play because he hasn't practiced, hasn't been with the team, hasn't played a game in months, and isn't ready for the season.
But if something does happen... bull, per usual.

So according to the realgm news the Clippers offered Mann as part of the package to get Jrue Holiday. How do the 76ers know that? Oh yes Neil Olshey is on the 76ers payroll now and I guess he hears things.

If Harden opens up the list of teams he will play for he is going to be embarrassed
Well there goes our first round pick for next draft.

The issue is, probably, the Clippers offered Mann for Jrue because there were several offers for Jrue so they had to create a good package to be in the conversation.
In the Harden talks, the Clippers are basically offering against themselves, they have no pressure to create a really great package.

These sorts of articles usually list 5+ teams with varying levels of "fit". This article mentions only TWO additional teams.

Agreed. It still feels like if you really want a player like Harden, you should have to pay close to market value still. I don't even think Mann/expirings/2028 1st/1st swap is truly Harden's value.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

I mean, market value is what the market is offering.
If no one outside of the Clippers wants Harden then that's his current value around the league. We can agree with that or think the league is acting irrationally, but that's what his value is.
Morey can bet on holding him until his value increases, that's what he did with Ben, but it's a gamble because his value going up is something tied to circumstances around the league.

Perkins is right about Lakers and Harden
I said this in June. Before all the drama when we thought Harden was going to Houston. Makes no sense to go to Houston, the Lakers and Clippers both should be interested in signing him via sign and trade. They've been trying to take the ball out of LeBron James's hands for years. Harden makes the most sense for them. Because their timeline is this year.

I find that Lakers is trying to add combo guards who are scorers and less playmakers to pair Bron with. Lonnie walker, DLo, Gabe Vincent. Thats why Shroeder wasnt a good fit. Can go back as far as Mo Williams and Kyrie. LeBron does not have that much energy to score anymore and he is more of a playmaker now. Ideally his role is like Draymond (maybe Bron eventually replaces him), then surrounded with off ball shooters/scorers with secondary playmaking abilities

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Harden knew full well by turning up this late the Sixers wouldn’t play him or even take him on the trip. This was just done so he wouldn’t get fined because of not playing any games without a valid excuse. If harden wanted to play he would have stayed through the “ ramp up “ period prior to the opening game.
Now he will go through another two weeks of so called ramp up period and miss more games.
It’s all part of the charade unfortunately. It’s getting embarrassing

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I've been reading the Clips forum, and there's a prevailing sentiment that they don't need Harden. I also share the opinion that we don't need Harden.
However, watching this Clips game has made me appreciate Harden's value.
The Clips have a roster filled with great shotmakers such as Hyland, Powell, George, and Kawhi. But they lack a playmaker who can create open opportunities and distribute the ball when those shots aren't falling.
In that Bucks game, we had players like Tobi shooting 8-9, Oubre with 27 points on a 106% true shooting percentage, and Maxey dropping 30 with high efficiency. But what do we do when the shots aren't falling? Do we give it to Embiid and rely on him to create for others? That would exhaust him, and it's been the strategy opponents have employed against him for years.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
If Harden plays for us this year, should he play as a starter or backup? I think this year should be Maxey experiment as a lead guard, to see if he can do it. Soften is on his way out, so i think he should play sparingly as a backup( if he plays).

He wants to be a secondary playmaker. That is why he campaigned to get Russell Westbrook, a person who famously is incapable of playing without the ball. Unfortunately he has had to be a primary due to their talent.
But for key stretches of the games even last year they would allow Austin Reaves to do it and he would play off. Again a symptom of the fact that Austin could be better with the ball and LeBron is capable of playing without it... But Harden would be a perfect fit, as he can do both too.
They thought it could be possible for Russell to cure this, but he sucks.
However, play-making may be easier on his body than just scoring. But just being able to pick your spots to do whatever you want it's easiest for him at 39.

Clips lose 1pt against the Jazz. Wouldnt have been close if not for that BS call by refs on Dunn.
We shoot just root for Clips to be mid. Not that good and not that bad. Just be in a position that Harden would put them on top.
