The deeper scottie gets the ball in the post, the better.. pretty much a bucket with his strength and size.

The bulk of 4th quarters is where every team goes to bread and butter star play.
The rest of the game is where you run your stuff to find easy offense, get your role players going, and ease the burden on your stars.
This is just standard basketball practice since forever. Nick Nurse just skipped all that and went to the hard, taxing stuff all game.
I think this has scrambled the brains of most of our fans/media because they haven't seen our team run a proper offense in a decade.

otherwise, the turnover thing is a bit overblown imo. obviously you want to avoid them, not saying it's a good thing, but it's also part and parcel of being a playmaker. misssing the forest for the trees. they didn't lose because of that.
otherwise, he's been mostly solid and I hope they continue giving him those PG reps for stretches. he's continually learning/growing and imposing his will upon games.
The good has definitely outweighed the bad, but that being said, is the turnover thing overblown? Trae led to league at 4.1 per game last year. Scottie currently is averaging 5.5 per game. Now, game 2 as a guy getting a lot of usage it probably not matter, but Scottie certainly has to get his TOs down to like 2-3 a game, not 5.
We lost for a variety of reasons, one of which was we turned the ball over 21 times as a team and gave up 15 offensive rebounds. In total, Chicago got off 15 more FGA's and 3 more FTs.
Turnovers are absolutely detrimental to a teams offense as a turnover = a 0% chance at scoring. Even our god awful half court offense has a 30-40% chance if we get a shot off.
A whole bunch of nothing. Way to avoid the entire paragraph where I already addressed the whole issue of how/why he's being a bit overeager and turning the ball over a bit more than he should. And of course ignoring where I said that turnovers weren't good! Great job!![]()
And he's 22-years-old, it's game 2 and it's part of the learning process. Let's relax, that's my point.
Just predictable and useless analysis as usual.
Let's take a look at Giannis' stat line from game 1.
What a terrible player.
What is with you people who just jump down the throat of anyone who has anything slightly negative to say about Barnes. It is like you guys completely ignore the "The good has definitely outweighed the bad" part of my post. Sheesh.
But either way, posting Giannis' as some sort of example when Giannis is another player who struggles with turnovers is hilarious, but besides that, when you are averaging 31/12/6 the turnovers hurt a lot less than when you average 19/9/8.
I am completely relaxed, but the point is that 5.5 turnovers per game is horrible. Is it a small sample size? Absolutely and it likely is going to improve.
That being said, we only have a 2-game sample here. So while you want people to just assume the good is going to continue (or even improve), you also want people to assume the bad is going to stop. That is not how it necessarily is going to work.
But either way - turnovers is a HUGE reason why we lost last night. I would like to know how many people ever win a game turning it over 20+ times. My guess is very, very few. Scottie was a huge reason why we got to 21 turnovers.

A raptors beat writer lol. He’s always in the media scrums alongside Josh, Grange, and co., asking questions.

Looks like it but I swear I've seen multiple people post his takes. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 6
Not sure how ppl didn't see this coming. The complete dearth of shooting and playmaking on the roster makes running a ball-movement offense rather difficult and pointless. Just as it was under Nurse, hunting mismatches is the team's best option to generate good looks. It's a roster thing i.e. blame should be directed at the front office.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 6
One thing that bothered me last night was how Scottie kept on camping under the basket for the easy rebound instead of properly boxing his man out in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. I disn’t count them but it cost us at least two possessions.

Hopefully Barnes 3 point shot gets good enough to alleviate this to a degree.
Also, if we do trade Siakam, imo Gradey needs to start. We aren't playing for wins anymore at that point anyways.

A) He's a local SI beat writer
B) I think what he's trying to show is that even though we want to play 0.5 basketball, we revert to mismatch hunting if we have the advantage.

I don’t think he knows exactly what 0.5 offence is.
It’s about initiating an action within “0.5 seconds”, not literally moving the ball around like a hot potato.

That's not how his comment came off. The way he put it it made it seem like they shouldn't have been mismatch hunting when they have a roster where two of their best players have mismatch advantages. You can't play 0.5 basketball all game. You're not the GSW.
