Game #4 Pistons@OKC
Figured I'd make the game thread as im watching the Thunder play right now.
Where-Paycom center OKC
When-8pm EST
What to look for.
As stated, im watching the Thunder right now, and they are tiny upfront. Duren and Stew should eat them alive.
Also, they are going to be on a second half of a back-to-back. Can the Pistons win three in a row for only the third time in 5 years? Tune in to find out!
Edit*** It's still unbelievable, but it would actually be the third time in 5 years, not second, if they won three games in a row.
Edit number 2.
Pistons are #2 in rebounding at 54.0 per game.
OKC is 29th in rebounding at 39.7 per game.
Huge advantage the Pistons need to exploit, like they did against Chicago.

Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores addressed the media before their home opener on Saturday. Here's what he said. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nba/pistons/2023/10/28/tom-gores-embracing-patience-detroit-pistons-owner-rebuild/71367411007/

Re: Game #4 Pistons@OKC
I posted this in the wrong thread earlier, but…
1) Go straight into Chet’s chest, not over or around him
2) Put Ausar on SGA and see how he does
3) Cade needs to limit his turnovers
Should be a good one.

Shai was horrific against Denver and they got hammered so I'd expect OKC to be out for blood tomorrow.

Our front court should feast on Chet and Jwill.

JD getting pulled out to the 3-point line should be interesting for the defense though. Haven't had to do that too much so far. But he should be able to hammer him on the glass on both ends.

I saw that boxscore and wondered if SGA got hurt, sprained something and tried to play through.

This should be a good one. Two similar young talented teams.
Cade v SGA is going to be a great match up. Hopefully the pistons can grind out another strong win.

I never want to see JD shoot a 3 just like it would have been dumb for Shaq to.
Improve FTs. He also scores plenty from misses.

Right. Even if he could shoot threes at an average rate, he's so much more valuable under the rim, battling for rebounds and put-backs.
Small sample size, but Duren is currently 2nd in the league in offensive rebounds.
Last year, he was 6th in the league at offensive rebounds per 36 minutes, and 10th overall.
Always play to your strengths.

As much as we don't care right now because we're 2-1, we're easily 3-0 if Killian was shooting even his normal league worst %s but he has started this season even far worse than those numbers.
If this continues, I'm expecting Killian to get fewer and fewer minutes as the starter and for some combination of Ivey, Burks and or Sasser to pick up more of those minutes.

Re: Game #4 Pistons@OKC
Going to be an interesting game tonight. On paper, the Pistons strengths against OKC are abundant, as per the stats, but the Pistons are exceedingly young as a starting group, and are prone to turnovers.
I love the teams direct matchups, and size difference. I'm going to assume Ausar is going to start on SGA, and Cade on Giddy defensively, and, more importantly, Stewart will probably get the Chet assignment, to keep Duren near the paint.
An important note is that Jaylen Williams, the center version, is still out, so they have even less size.
SGA is going to look to rebound back from a terrible game, but with both Hayes, and Ausar switching, amd along with Cade, who also enjoys a size bonus, good luck.

Yep. A potentially good spot for Detroit turned bad when OKC laid an egg. Not a night I'd bet on us.

Re: Game #4 Pistons@OKC
really looking forward to the game tonight! hopefully stewart and duren impose their wills on chet (getting him in foul trouble would be nice!) and ausar/hayes slow down SGA enough.

Re: Game #4 Pistons@OKC
Kind of sucks that this game is going up against the Lions game so I won't watch much of it live.
This will be their biggest test of the season especially after OKC got pummeled yesterday.

I hope they don't sit Chet since they just played. I saw a few minutes but I figure I'll see Chet, Wemby, etc., when we face them.

Re: Game #4 Pistons@OKC
I didn't see or hear what happened in the Thunder's last game. I can't imagine SGA just sucking it for two games straight unless he is injured. Chet and Duren are from the same draft, playing the same position, so they'll naturally be compared as their careers go forward. I see Chet as an injury waiting to happen, but I appreciate his competitiveness.
Remember Weaver saying he considered drafting Duren fifth if Ivey wasn't available? It doesn't seem like such a stretch now. I said last year and still think Duren is the better prospect.
I am just grateful the Pistons are playing real defense though, wins or losses be what they may.
