I think he was one of the guys that over-achieved in playoffs with Heat. He earned himself a big contract.

Strus is putting up some decent numbers with the Cavs... although he is shooting 37% as of now, but 39% from three.

Sadly it's everywhere, and people don't seem to learn from doing the same thing in previous years, it's pretty wild. It's possibly a combination of lack of patience and/or people trying to get their takes in early so they can say, "you see, I said it", or something else, I don't know.

But every season players, teams, there are always some that have early good or bad stretches, and people will jump and make a whole 82 game and playoff conclusion on 6-10% of the season right at the start.

tbf, he wasn't really good last year either. he played better in the playoffs but the whole miami team played out of their minds.

Nope. Great player who could definitely carry a team, but he doesnt elevate his teammates.

People will change their minds here on a quarter of play...this is even worse among certain fan bases, the lakers being the worst.

Vincent and Reaves have sucked really bad so far. On the other hand, guys like Rui and Wood have actually been quite good but can’t get minutes for some reason.

Did we figure out why the Lakers let go of Schroder and instead signed Vincent?

I'm guessing Lakers brass only watched him play against the Celtics in the playoffs before deciding they wanted him bad. Vincent made a lot of money because he got career hot at the right time.

That's not a lot of money by NBA standards. His salary is 151st in the NBA this year and that ranking will drop every year as new contracts are signed. He makes 2m less than the mid-level exception this year, and that gap will be more or less the same over the duration of his contract (unless there's a major cap spike). If you want to complain about Gabe, that's fine, but don't do it because of money. He's only one step above a scrap heap signing.

And yeah, like others are saying... it's been 3 games. It can feel like an eternity when you're watching every game and someone is playing bad. But you know as well as anyone that players (especially ones in smaller roles) can have rough stretches and good ones. Vincent's value comes from being solid all-around at a few things. He's really not great at anything, but he can give you a bit of shooting, he works hard on defense, and he'll tough it out on offense sometimes and generate a basket here and there.

I'm not overreacting to anything over 3 games, but one question I had going into the season for the Lakers was their ability to generate quality 3-point shots. The FO has tried to put spacing around AD and Lebron (Prince, D'Lo, Reaves, Vincent), it's not amazing shooting but it's something. But Lebron isn't the drive and kick machine he was in his prime. The first step is gone, so he's more reliant on transition buckets, post ups, and hopefully operating out of the pick & roll. AD isn't an awesome passer so his post ups aren't generating tons of 3s either. The Lakers feel underwhelming on both sides of the 3-point creation strategy. They'll get hot at some point and look better, but I wonder about this in the big picture.

- Rui and Wood play the same positions as the Lakers 2 best players. Reaves and Vincent play at a relative position of weakness for the Lakers.
- Schröder found a starting job with another team. It was never a Vincent vs. Schroder thing, it was a D'Lo vs. Schröder thing. If Schroeder had told the Lakers: I'm fine with coming off the bench behind D'Lo, the Lakers probably wouldn't have signed Vincent. But it is possible they saw him as a better fit. He's not a way better shooter than Schröder but he's more comfortable confined to a catch & shoot role.

Vincent was never going to get better we already saw his ceiling.

I feel bad for the guy he will not survive L.A .
