Teaurean Prince playmaking and being the third scorer on this team while Reaves is 1-12 on the bench, Rui and Wood in the doghouse in the clutch is not something I expected or was ready for.

Summing it up, their guard play has been simply horrid so far. And Rui, despite the good last game, is probably not all that much of a force coming from the bench.

Dlo, Reaves, Rui and Vincent have all been quite underwhelming so far - and 03 of them are in the first year of long contracts. It may have stg to do with it.

Early poor shooting on good shots that players regularly make is a good thing for a team looking forward, because the law of averages will kick in. None of these players have had a drastic change in role or shot quality to make them swing wildly in percentage.

For the season, Vincent won't shoot 0% 3PT, Russell won't shoot 24% 3PT, and Reaves won't shoot 25% 3PT.

Considering those guys so far are combined for 7/40 3PT (17.5%) and 13 3PA, once they normalize which should be about 37% 3PT among them based on the looks they are taking, the Lakers can gain 8 pts/game JUST from their 3PT shooting. Considering there's no large group of other Lakers shooting on the opposite end lights out from 3PT, this actually bodes really well for their offense.

Sure, but gotta remember Prince is shooting 45% on 6 shots pg.. he'll also regress a bit.

I expect improvement from Russell and Reaves, but Vincent and Rui are probably simply going back to their mediocre averages.

Btw, maybe Russell's shooting is suffering from defense fatigue - he's focusing more on it. So it may actually stay a bit lower than his career average.

For sure, I took him to account, so he's taking half the amount of three's, and he has averaged 38% since his second season in the NBA over 4 different teams, so pretty consistent. A drop from 45% to 38% on 6.7 attempts is 1.4 ppg less, good amount, but it is totally trumped by those guys who will definitely not stay at 17.5%. If they even combined for a dissappointing 34% over the season on the same attempts, we're still talking about 6.6 more points for the team from them, and a net +5.2 pts with Prince going to his average.

Of course the numbers won't be exact, but in principle, they actually have a lot of upside to look forward to offensively even with these same guys.

Not really. Don't get me wrong - Jimmy was absolutely incredible last playoffs. Especially in the earlier rounds. But a lot of what got them to the Finals was guys (including Vincent) shooting lights out in a comparatively small stretch of games. They were bound to come back down to earth some.

Gabe Vincent is what he is. Anybody that expected him to continue to play above his baseline forever was bound to be disappointed.

The Heat benched him in the finals because the Nuggets were targeting him on defense.

Defensive ace is the LAST thing he's going to be. He's either going to be hitting threes or he's going to be useless. No in-between.

Darvin Ham is who sucks. He isn't able to pivot and have a feel for what his team needs at the time. Lakers look disjointed.

If you're a Lakers fan, I suggest not to focus on watching their games maybe until February. Just watching DLo bringing the ball running their offense is frustrating enough that it's not worth it even if they win the game. Understand what Russell, Rui and Vincent's contract represents. Mainly, they are for matching salary purposes along with 2029 FRP and 2026, 2028 and 2030 FRP swap for Kyrie or Harden, that's who the Lakers need in their team to fit with AD's timeline. Also, don't expect LeBron to carry this team anymore, that ship has sailed, he give everything he got last year chasing the scoring title and Conference Finals run. They will go as far as where AD can take them. I expect them to have a 6-14 record in their first 20 games and still make the playoffs. I hope they fire Ham during the season, one of the worst coach in the NBA right now.

I wasn't sure how to feel about Ham, but I thought he did a great job with the Lakers after the Russ trade, and especially during the playoffs.
