According to RealGM that 2026 LAC 1st is unprotected (see link). I wonder if they are adding protection to it?

Nice!! The two FRP’s were always the real prize, K Mart Jr is the young guy I wanted from them (do we get FA rights in him?), the two second rounders and getting off of next year’s PJ contract, to say nothing of getting off of PJ generally, are real bonuses.

They can also build out with non max, but quality role players to build a deep team this season or in the summer, maybe a bit of both, if no max level guy is worth it.

I also wonder if ATL is looking to offload one of Saddiq Bey or DeAndre Hunter with Jalen Johnson starting to show up. My guess would be Bey since he's in the last year of his contract.

Woj said it was protected. For just a 27 swap, I imagine the Thunder protected it fairly heavily. Wouldn't be surprised if it's lotto protected.

I think you're right and that makes sense. Trade works without PJ so us getting to move him also creates a TE for us in the amount of his salary.

This. For the geek in me, primarily Batum and Covington. It could be a fun little experiment for the year. We just added a tonne of shooting, size and secondary rim protection and created a lot more matchup flexibility against Boston and Milwaukee. Nurse now has Embiid/Reed/Batum/Covington(/Harris) at his disposal to point and say 'get him' to suffocate a jumbo sized star big/forward.
