Hilariously, for those with more than 20 mins played Beasily has the 2nd worst net on/off per 100 in the entire league behind only Malachi Flynn.

For those with more than 20 mins played, Midds has the second best in the league. Behind Christian Wood. AJ Green is 4th.

It shouldnt surprise anyone that Beasley is a bad defender. Everyone and their mother knows this. The larger issue here is that the rest of the team is so out of sync on that end of the floor, that it's magnifying the issue there larger than it definitely should be and hopefully will be down the line. It's impossible to hide to any degree when Brook and Giannis are consistently losing the backdoor/roll man. We were outscored in the paint by Atlanta ffs. Again, he's an off the bench gunner you bring in and hope is hot here and there. It's the Bryn Forbes role with greater shot variation.

Our defense has actually been good when Beas sits. Whoever would have guessed this?

I looked at the on/off numbers and that’s brutual. -49.8 per 100 net for Beasily. More than doubles Brook.

Ignoring those with less than 10 mins played, AJ Green has the second best at a positive 49.1 and Midds is the best at 55.3. Cam and Bobby have also been positives.

Everyone else negative. I’m sure Dame and GA is due to adjusting to each other and getting their legs after no offseason.

I know it’s only three games and that Hawks game is skewing everything right now, but something to keep an eye on and it’s matching the eye test for most of us (Beasily awful, Brook not suited to be hedging/trapping/showing)

All the starters have played the bulk of their minutes with Beasley. Everyone looks great in the few minutes they didn't play with him. He's the Gooden anchor here.

"Marjon should start" truther here. It's actually impossible for a guard/perimeter defender to tank your defense that much. I'm not gonna pine for Beasley but you guys can't be serious taking 3-game on/off samples like this. The reason Darvin yanked him from the lineup in LA was because he chucked bad shots, not because he was some Trae Young level defensive crater. I actually think it's admirable how he's at least tried to fit into this role that he really isn't equipped for, but ironically he's over-compensated (only 6.4 3PT attempts per-36). Turning him into shorter Tony Snell isn't a winning recipe and yes, it's on Griffin to recognize that.

It's very plain to see though...and most called this going into the season.

Jae or Marjon need to start, and Beas can come in chucking when needed.

It is a bit like we decided that Allen's one flaw was not being able to get a tight three off so we got a guy who can always get a shot off and ignored a whole host of impactful abilities along the way.

Imagine designing a lineup around Beasley being the go to 1-3 defender for a coach hired for his D.

I think it's obvious Beasley isn't a good defender but like when he's out there with our starters it's really not like things are getting out of control.

NBA.com and PBP have a little variance but I mean it kinda paints a picture that the defense has been ok and there's obvious offense struggles.

Funny enough too people trying to paint Beasley, Brook and Dame as our defensive struggles (which to some points obviously fair enough) but you take them off the court and our defense gets noticeably worse.

Also the sample size on three games is hilarious.

In a perfect world, Jae plays the 3 or 4, allowing Khris and Giannis to defend one position down.

If we’re going to keep forcing this defense, there’s two centers in Portland who are a much better fit than any of the centers on our roster.

Brook simply cannot play this defense. It’s brutal to watch.

I don't think expanding the sample to 4 games is going to turn around anyone's fortunes.
