Siakam put up 22/6/6 on horrible efficiency. Scottie is not going to put up his current averages on the 62.5% TS% he's managing right now for sure. But 22/6/6 on below league average efficiency at the PF position, isn't exactly a high bar.

What is shocking about what he's doing right now isn't raw stats, it's the insane efficiency.

Siakam's stats last season weren't very impressive. It reeked of someone being thrust into a role they were incapable of exceeding in. Just inflated stats from high usage.

Yeah, his long 2 is clicking, he's getting almost a 3rd of his total shooting volume in the RA and even though he's underperforming relative to league and positional average when he gets there, he's still shooting 66.7% on those shots. That's pumping his numbers a lot at the moment. Also, shooting almost 86% on long 2s, and 36% on almost 4 3PA/g.

Lots going on with Scottie right now in this very, very early season. But he's been smashing it.

My hope is that the inevitable return to realistic efficiency is a reasonable descent, and not a precipitous fall lol. Scottie on league average efficiency would be an insane year 2->3 jump.

Have said before ITT, but I would be pretty happy with Scottie just making it to league-average efficiency, especially since he seems to be pushing for increased volume as well. It wouldn't be franchise-saving or whatever, but it would mark an important forward step for him in his development which we need to see. And yeah, I'm hoping he has a reasonable regression and maybe starts to drive and post a little more to compensate.

His defense looks great this year in addition to the 21/10/6. Masai has been meh-sigh for years but this pick redeems it.

Scottie will have a super hard time scoring in that paint when it's gonna be packed every night... What a nightmare for the poor lad but if he can continue putting up these type of numbers on this poorly built team he deserves bigtime props..

This thread died after 4 games because he's playing well lol. It will pick up again if he/when he has bad games.

I think it "died" because he wasn't particularly good or bad against the Blazers, a game which was a brutal loss. He was probably our best player again, but he was just decent. Like if he played really well and we lost, there would have at least been something positive while there would have been something to talk about if he had a bad game in a close loss too.

That one play against Giannis where he bullied him tonight was something he can do a lot more in general... He could have a lot more assists with great passes he made but lots of bricks from his teammates

It's getting kind of scary that he can sleep walk his way into 20/10/5.

Once his 3 point shooting starts to dip back to the mean, he needs to up his driving attempts and draw FT"s.

Scottie's handle still needs a bit of work but it looks much better. There have been a few games now where he has beat his defender making a move left to right. I'd have to watch a replay to see what it is but I think it's just a cross or some sort of hesi cross. The issue is he's been surprised every time. So his defender is off balance and out of position but Scottie wasn't really ready to attack. He's fumbled the opportunity. Might be an issue with footwork. Interesting though because he's never been one to beat a guy off dribble moves like that. Could be something that will open up in his game throughout the year.

I see it too. Whenever he gets past a defender with a live dribble he hesitates for a split second and misses the chance to get the rim.

It'll get fixed in time with more reps and confidence. His footwork is pretty mediocre, with more development he'll be able to not waste movements and become much sharper.

Just a new concept for him haha. Feel very grateful I get to watch a player like this each game.
