I hate Randle so much that KAT seems like the lesser of two evils but he's not a good fit either so I don't want either.

We have to find a team that could actually use Randle... maybe Chicago is dumb enough to take him for Caruso, Pat Williams, and Drummond. I'm a huge Caruso fan and Pat Williams can maybe be salvaged. Yeah, we'd be playing small ball but we can address size later.

And you're willing to take on that massive contract?

I'm leaning towards on hoping Knicks get Donovon Mitchell.

No... I'd rather move Randle for guys with less salary that actually play defense... e.g.

Randle for Caruso, P Williams, Drummond
or
Randle for Isaac, Ingles, late 1st

ie Get him outta NY before he completely poisons the waters.

Agreed. The same complaints people have about Randle would be a lot worse with KAT imo. And Randle is a lot cheaper and more durable.

The problem with KAT is that to be at his best offensively he needs to be at the 5, and he's not good defensively, although the year before Gobert showed up they were 13th which isn't great but not bad either. He has the tools to be a good defender but he's seemingly dumb as rocks on that side of the floor, he chases blocks that leave him out of position. If you traded for KAT and played him at C you'd need an elite defender at the 4 that can guard multiple positions as well as protect the rim.

The offense between him and Brunson would be spectacular, but the defense would be as big of a problem if you didn't build to offset it.

The price difference between KAT and Randle is not worth it. A focused Randle isn’t that far from KAT at his best to me. KAT needs to be his teams C to be fully utilized

Randle > KAT

That’s a no from me. Imagine being stuck with that $50m contract, we’d be trading picks away to get rid of it in two years.

It's not hard to see the immediate decline of KAT the second he's playing out of position next Gobert who clogs the floor.

Remove him from that type of situation, and he'll go back too all NBA level again.

You'd have to have a monster defensive F like prime Dray next to him and we don't. But if you only care about offense, he'll immediately be a 25 /10 guy on great efficiency.

that seems like an overpay to me. while i am not the biggest rj fan, he looks a lot better this year. and kat is pretty much similar to randle.

Well, the Wolves are gonna want something of use in this trade.

while giving up 4 years of draft picks plus some of our youth

hard pass

Thing is, Randle is a two-time all-star. If traded, he has to be traded with that value. KAT is injury-prone and wildly overpaid. As the acquiring team, the Knicks would be entitled to a significant discount. Otherwise, no deal. KAT is not some franchise-direction-changing player. Management needs to brutally separate the hype from the truth in any deal.

Management is separating the hype. No way do we throw in RJ or IQ with Randle for Kat. Same level player who is paid twice as much and is injury prone = they should be giving us assets to make it fair.

individual defense <<<<<< team defense.

look at bucks so far this year.

ranked 30.
last year with bud, ranked 4.

and there is no change in giannis-lopez rim protection.

Are we still allowed to use the "You all just hate Julius Randle cause he's not Lebron" argument? Cause technically it's true.

Id take Towns over Randle, but why would the Wolves want Randle? The sad truth is no team rightfully wants Julius when hes playing and acting like this, unless they can get him at a steal.

Maybe the Wolves think Randle fits better on their team since hes an actual PF with a smaller contract, but his attitude can torpedo a team much more than Towns. He could be a bad influence on Antman.

KAT has supposedly played better defense this season. They just beat the Nuggets last night and he did a good job on Jokic. His offense has been bad so far just like Randle, but as everyone says if he goes back to the 5 here Im sure his numbers would go back up.

We’d obviously need some elite defensive forwards next to Towns though. Not sure who that would be or how wed get them.

Is this sarcasm? If Randle was at least Dean Wade I would be less bothered by him. Can we even get Ben Simmons impact from Randle?

I’m not trying to make excuses for him but could recovery from the ankle surgery be the issue?
