Last year his 3p shooting started strong but didn't feel sustainable.

This year it feels much more sustainable. 42%? Nah. But like mid 30s? Yes.

The only thing that had me slightly hedging was the mid-range shot ability. With that out of the way, he's a more cerebral player than Paolo Banchero and will be a good level ahead of him on both ends of the floor when he puts it all together.

If you're a Raptor fan that hasn't internalized that we have a guy with Lowry/Gasol like intangibles in the body of an athletic 6'9 tank you're still not seeing the bigger picture.

And he's doing this with one arm tied behind his back whenever Jak is on the floor.

a 6'9" Lowry in theory is probably an MVP player

He's shooting the lights out right now, but I don't know if his shot making will reach that level. That being said, he probably wouldn't need the pull-up 3 game the way Siakam does to reach another level. He's got strength to live in the middle the way the big superstars do.

His mechanics just look night and day from last year, I'd be genuinely shocked if he wasnt at the 34-35% mark by end of season.

Yup. It was obvious right off the bat in preseason when he went to the foul line. It was smooth and confident.

So happy to see this

Barnes' three-point shooting appears to be legit. When he gets an open look, he doesn't waste time and allows his shooting mechanics took over without overthinking it.

The kid has soo much room to grow man, we need to give this man a good squad around him that works with his strengths. Get him 3pt shooters and a bucket getter and we could be elite.

I posted this on the GB last night:

Giannis today with:
- OG on him for 5:30 match up minutes: 1 for 1 with 2 assists
- Scottie on him for 1:30 match up minutes: 1 for 5 with 0 assists and 1 turnover

They took Giannis out of the game. 1-6 in 7 match up minutes. That's essentially 3/4ths Giannis' offensive minutes last night with the ball. It's not just the makes, it's the fact that he only attempted 6 fgs against them.

The OG/Scottie defensive tandem is elite. Put a lead guard to run with them and that's a pretty high ceiling base to build from.

The mechanics are more compact and repeatable. I think he's going to be able to maintain his shooting for the season. Not at 43% rate that it's at now but it will level off to about 35-37% on the year, which is a HUGE development!

All I can recall is a singular bad miss, and it was last night. Corner 3 airball that went past the basket, it's weird he seems to have a better shot from the arc than the shorter spots.

It's harder to gauge depth perception when shooting from the corner. It's only an "easier" shot if you practice it over and over until that specific shot becomes muscle memory like free throws.

If you just grab a random non-player off the street and ask them to take shots, they'll find it much easier to shoot from above the arc than from the corners.

no reason to think this guy can't be an all-star this year if he keep this up.

I was talking about this with a buddy the other day. The shine is wearing off what was initially heralded as "one of the best draft classes in a long time". Herbert Jones would go top 15 maybe even top 10, in a redraft today.

Sengun is at this point higher than Mobley, and he's looked as good as Scottie has so far. They've been the two best this year.

19/9/6 on 59% and 40% from 3. He's not as good defensively which is why Scottie is the better player, but he's a monster offensively.

I need to pay more attention to Sengun then. Admittedly I don't watch the Rockets much since they are garbage. I'm very dismissive of anything he and Green do for that reason. Pretty sure the latter ends up as nothing special though.

Sengun has decided he's not just going to pass out to the guards anymore. Numbers look good but part of it is he's decided he's going to get his (understandably).

With that said, I'm not sure I put him above Mobley. Mobley still has an obscenely high floor. But I think it's becoming clearer by the game that his ceiling may not really be that high. Ceiling wise, it's Scottie and Cade right now, but when it's all said and done, Mobley can still claim best player of the draft (he's better than Wagner) if Scottie and Cade stagnate.

But Scottie haters told me last year he'd never improve his shot. He was too lazy and his mechanics were too flawed.

They're worth a watch here and there in spurts. I think watching both him and Green together both allow you appreciate Sengun and further frustrate you with Green. And you get to watch Jabari as a bonus; I think he's their best prospect but I doubt he ever lives up to his potential on that roster. For his sake, I hope he gets to leave soon.

21/10/5 on 60% TS and a 5.9 BPM

"Scottie is what he is. It's time to move on. Trade him for Dame."

"Scottie is lazy. He'll never improve."

It's early, don't start rubbing it into people's faces yet. He's still not doing great 5-14 feet in (though I think some of that is a result of the bad spacing we have there). Still, It's awesome that his 3 and long 2 is falling, otherwise the "he'll never be able to shoot" voices would be very loud right now: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/shooting?TeamID=1610612761

What I like right now is that he is not hesitating and shooting with confidence. His misses are generally pretty bad which is a mark of a not so good shooter but if he can up the FG% inside and keep the 3 at ~35% this season, I'd say that's a massive win. Introduce a decent handle into the mix and we got something.

I agree with the counting chickens mentality, but I think that his current product is much closer to what he can do regularly, than last year for sure.

The likelihood of him getting anywhere close to what he did last year, I think is damn near impossible. Even if his offence was identical, the defence he's been playing has been an insane leap that doesn't get talked about enough I think, and I would still be stoked about that player.

I wouldn't see him with star potential if that were the case, but rather another lockdown/OG type player.

His shooting and handking is still work in progress but agree it looks noticeably better and more sustainable
