Re: Is Kat really gonna be worse to watch than Randle?
There are several logical, valid, and wholly convincing arguments to not want a move for KAT, but there is also the undeniable fact that he is wildly better than Randle, and it's not even particularly close. You're talking about one of the most efficient scoring bigmen in the league vs one of the least efficient. Both have deficiencies on the mental side of the game, but KAT's woes (corny, no-showing) are significantly less impactful than Randle's (ornery sabotage-level pouting/effort).
Again, it's perfectly logical to not want a trade for KAT for a number of reasons, but he is better than Randle by a good deal if we're comparing them to each other.

Maybe the Wolves think Randle fits better on their team since hes an actual PF with a smaller contract, but his attitude can torpedo a team much more than Towns. He could be a bad influence on Antman.
KAT has supposedly played better defense this season. They just beat the Nuggets last night and he did a good job on Jokic. His offense has been bad so far just like Randle, but as everyone says if he goes back to the 5 here Im sure his numbers would go back up.
We’d obviously need some elite defensive forwards next to Towns though. Not sure who that would be or how wed get them.
Makes no sense to get a forward back for Randle. I am almost certain you could slide RJ or Hart right into Randle's minutes and be fine for the rest of the season. Especially with Mitchell Robinson on the court. The front office is so worried about getting value back and less concerned about the train wreck Randle is when his game is slumping. His slumps are guaranteed to cost us 10-15 games. It has cost us 3 so far.

I’m not trying to make excuses for him but could recovery from the ankle surgery be the issue?
Not the effort and attitude part. We have seen it before over the last 5 years. He will probably come out of this and play better but always regresses back when you need him most. It's past time to move on

Well, the Wolves are gonna want something of use in this trade.
i don't want kat so i'll pass lol
Me either. I just want Randle gone.

Maybe KAT needs a change of scenery. Coming back home sparks something in him, who knows.

If you traded for KAT and played him at C you'd need an elite defender at the 4 that can guard multiple positions as well as protect the rim.
The offense between him and Brunson would be spectacular, but the defense would be as big of a problem if you didn't build to offset it.
individual defense <<<<<< team defense.
look at bucks so far this year.
ranked 30.
last year with bud, ranked 4.
and there is no change in giannis-lopez rim protection.
Speaking of Bud...is he looking for work?

Towns is so soft it's not even funny. His contract is preposterous. Please let this conversation die before Dolan gets any ideas.

Re: Is Kat really gonna be worse to watch than Randle?
Something big to consider with getting Towns is it means Mitch would be traded as well, or at least on his way out.
To maximize Towns hed had to be at the 5, with some great defenders around him. Doubt we could build a champion with Brunson/RJ/Towns as the “Big 3” since none of them are plus defenders.
RJ has played better so far this season but ideally Id like a better defending SF if we were going to commit to Towns and Brunson.
Hypothetically lets say we trade Julius and Fournier for Towns, and IQ for OG.
Brunson / McBride / Donte
Grimes / Donte
RJ / Hart / OG
OG / RJ / Hart
Towns / Mitch (likely traded too tho) / Hartenstein
That is about the best case scenario for us and it still doesnt exactly scream legit contender. Adding Donovan Mitchell for some combo of RJ, Grimes, etc wouldnt change that much either. Depending on how many picks wed have left we could still do another trade though I suppose.
I do think Julius is on the hot seat this season, but I also dont think Leon trades him for anything but another All Star in his 20s. Towns fits the profile, but they may view him as a lateral move, especially if it means Mitchell Robinson has to go as well.

Could be that he is not fully recovered. But why doesn't management then find some way to use the Fournier contract to bring in some depth behind Randle. I assume that they are holding on to Fournier to use in some massive deal. But if Mitch is going out and KAT is coming in, we're going to be one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
Last night I watched as the ball got kicked to a Cavs shooter in the corner, with Randle within a few feet of him, and Randle made no effort to even contest the shot.

It is very frustrating to be on this rollercoaster with him. Not fun.
Do you want to trade him for KAT?

Randle was bad last night. No doubt. I think he got frustrated between his shot not dropping and along with some calls from the refs that didn’t go his way. You could actually see it enveloping him as the game progressed to point where he began to pout and not give proper effort. But that’s when Thibs has to take him out and just sit him. Thibs never holds him accountable.

When do they have to do something with Fournier or lose all their potential with him?
