didn't even say they were bad players or that they shouldn't play. they were horrible 4 q last game. they were excellent tonight. people just need wins so they can enjoy it.

I thought he meant actual Shaq like TNT had words lol. As a Shack myself, spelling is important in the Shack(k)(q) realm...

In my defense typing on my phone without my "readers" on is alphabet Russian roulette.

I hate to say it but Smart is their de facto leader now.

And I'm not surprised by the results.

You hate to say it? You use any chance possible to take Smart's name to the whiz palace.

I wasn't a fan back then, can someone tell me what the 08 team went through and overcame that let yall believe they could win it all? did they have a come to jesus moment? do the Cs need one this season? I would be fine without adversity if we walked into a chip. I didn't think the first two were easy but they weren't that bad either for anxiety.

That 08 team didn't see any semblance of adversity until the playoffs. Keep in mind all 3 of them were already seasoned vets with no need to prove themselves or go for theirs. They clicked from day 1.

Not to mention, there were no redundancies with the big 3. They all brought their own unique skillset that meshed perfectly. I'll go to my grave convinced KG's knee is the only thing that prevented a 3-peat.

They're not only missing Ja. No Steven Adams, no Brandon Clarke. No Aldama and no Rose either today. Smart can't carry a team we all knew that already. Even JB or Jrue can't carry this depleted Grizzlies team come on.

Their big rotation is temporarily decimated. But it's weak even in the longer term this season with Adams and Clarke.

They'll be coming from a long way back if they don't pull their finger out, but it's pretty predictable right now.
Bane is good, but making him the focus of defences is tough. Smart is a good do it all guy, but fails hardest when he's trying to do it all too often. And their halfcourt screening and offensive board work has tanked now.

No adversity for that 08 team.

It was only in the 1st round where they had a scare against the Hawks.

Cs needed 7 games to eliminate the #8 Hawks.

thanks for the info. their fans have probably said "what if" for years after that.

No doubt. Horford was just a young buck on the Hawks squad. His first season I think? I'm sure it was quite an introduction to the league for him having to deal with KG for 7 games.

Cavs also took them to 7 games in the 2nd round. Game 7 was the legendary Lebron-Pierce duel where both scored 40+. PJ Brown with two key buckets late in the game.

And Boston had just dragged PJ up off his couch a couple months prior.

But then once the playoffs started every single series went 7. Thank you Doc Rivers, probably added several extra millions of gate receipts to the Celtics' coffers.

Read on Twitter

Full credit goes to Celtics RGM again for continuing to push our players to greater heights. Without us maligning our bench, not sure how they would improve and show what they're truly capable of.

That's what the KD Warriors were doing regularly. Man was that unfair.

That team - and I don’t blame Doc - never took care of business the way they were capable. When their backs were against the wall they had a crazy ‘refuse to lose’ mentality but they didn’t know how to stay focused enough to sweep inferior teams. Even in 2010 when they added Rasheed and had a healthy KG again, they couldn’t be bothered during regular season - much like last year’s Heat team - to play for decent home court advantage. They believed they could deliver when necessary and they usually did. They did blow some 3-2 series leads but it was always to another great team like the Lakers or the Heat that were favored to win.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

The 08 team was just freaking loaded. A Big 3 that was better than any other team's big 3. KG (top 10 player in the league, maybe top 5..definitely the best defender in the league), you had all-stars Pierce and Ray. You had Rondo pushing the pace, facilitating, distributing, driving into the paint and dishing to the open man at will. You had Perk provided inside presence, strength, muscle, toughness, rebounding. A really deep bench led by Posey, House, Cassell, Powe, Big Baby and PJ Brown.

All veterans who knew how to play, were hungry to win, put their egos aside to just make it work for the TEAM.

Only real question was whether the lakers had enough to beat us - they didn't. We had too many weapons, the lakers were to reliant on 2 guys (Kobe, Gasol) to score and not enough other guys stepped up for the Lakers..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It would've been a great series if KG didn't get hurt in 2009 and the Celts and Lakers once again met in the finals in 2008-09.

WAIT -- is this thread title a reference to Gorman's call as Pierce 'BURIED A THREE RIGHT IN HARRINGTON'S FACE'??

If so a delayed -- but huge and swooping -- tip of the hat to the OP
it's maybe the most 'excited' call I've ever heard Mike make:

I'm guessing it's just Facers rhymes with Pacers, but if Bisme wants to pull the "I meant to do that" card then so be it lol.
