no.
he is not a point guard at all.

and it is not to blame him, just his role is different.

you could immediately see the difference with Anthony,in terms of playmaking and ball handling, day and night.
(and anthony he is not even a pure point guard himself ,more a combo guard  )

Seems like he’s perfect for 20-25 minutes of pure chaos off the bench at SG.

It’s pretty much been the role he’s played this season (only one game >26 minutes). But it’s still kind of a hot take because guys with his style of play are always loved by fans. Marcus smart 2.0 (and I don’t mean that in a bad way)

He and Cole seem like they’re both, perhaps, best suited as first guard off the bench (for different reasons). Maybe that’s why Cole got the deal he got and the FO actually gets that we’re still lacking a starting backcourt. Hopefully, Black shows enough in the early season to skip the line…conceptually, he’s not a bad pairing with Harris - or, more ideally, a guy like Simons or Herro (who can score 20+) on any night. Brogdon being a pretty good and gettable consolation prize. Jett’s a gunner already on the roster too.

Spring 2024…

Black/Cole
Simons/Suggs/Jett
Franz/Ingles
Paolo/Isaac
WCJ/R. Williams/M. Wagner

Fultz/Harris/Goga/ORL 24 frp(top 3)/DEN 25 frp to POR
For…Simons/Williams
*I like POR backcourt of Scoot/Sharpe, Brogdon/Harris…good blend of vets, shooting, crazy upside. Goga backs Ayton. 2 firsts. Flip, play, or expire Fultz

Suggs has just to adjust his game,he has the tools to be a solid starter in nba.

just has to make the uncontested 3s at a decent rate and play more careful on offense, with less iniziative and more that anything:never dribble.

if he could adjust to be a defensive specialist who not damages you on offense, his future could be bright.

except shooting and ball handling

but i agree, he needs to be a defensive disruptor.

shooting the 3s and i mean, just the uncontested ones,is not still there, but already showed flashes for stretches.

biggest weakness he has terrible shot selection, typical for an agonist like him, when he tries hard to the rim,and so often putting a risk his own health, lol.

but aside for that,if he learns to limites himself taking only quality shots and not putting the ball on the floor(klay thompson style to be clear)all the tools are there to have a good carreer.

a guy with that potential to guard opponent guard would be very valued, even in playoff.

He can't shoot, and missing layups along with ugly turnovers exposes him to this hot take.

I'm going in the opposite direction. I think his defense is so good, so early (Junior season), that we have to develop him and play him MORE.

brogdon is cooked....can't stay healthy....i don't think the guy has ever had a full healthy season

Also I think the usage being upped for Paolo/Franz might be nice compare to Moe who will def get his shots up lol

exactly where i was going with that....Goga doesn't really need the ball but he'll do what a center is supposed to do rim protect and rebound....arguably two aspects of the game he may be better than dell at

He will make the court smaller for the team though cuz unlike WCJ, opponents know he wont chuck 3s so they will pack it in.

Hers hoping the defense offsets that.

Teams are leaving WCJr "wide open" for his 3s. They're giving that shot to him. He's not really stretching anything.

Yeah agreed his aggression leads to silly annoying fouls that bother me. But it's to be expected with how chaotic he plays.

If anything I am hoping all these injuries leads to more playing time for Black. Not mad at Suggs at PG either. Lets Paulo + Franz dictate the pace which is really what you are wanting if you were watching Magic this and last season.

Biggest issue with Suggs now is that he is too emotional while being a mistake heavy player. Its a bad combination. Not every turnover or missed opportunity is one where you have to visually show how exacerbated you are. Move onto the next play and keep going. The effort doesn't take a hit but still being in your feelings that much over everything can't be good for your effectiveness.

It's really not that hot a take...it's a weak position for us (top to bottom) and this guy was #6 in a loaded draft. He's supposed to be the best PG on our roster, even if there are some growing pains...let's get started and get them over with.
