Saudia Arabia To Host 2034 FIFA World Cup After Australia Drops Bid

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Oct 31, 2023 12:02 pm

Saudi Arabia will almost certainly host the 2034 FIFA World Cup after Australia has announced they will not bid to host the tournament.

Saudi Arabia announced it would bid for 2034 only minutes after FIFA\'s invitation for bids from Asia and Oceania earlier this month.

Only Asia or Oceania could bid for 2034 after FIFA accepted only one candidate for 2030: a six-country bid spread across three confederations: Europe, Africa and South America.

Yup.

Developing in front of 696 fans.

To make matters worse, Al-Ettifaq's defeat was played with just 696 people in attendance. This is staggeringly low for a top-flight match, though Al-Riyadh aren't one of the most well-backed sides in the Saudi Pro League. It isn't the first time Al-Ettifaq have seen a crowd this low, as just 976 fans turned up for their 3-1 win at Abha in September.

Tbf Europe is bleeding talent because most of the leagues there embraced pure capitalism too much. Most English clubs have Saudi, international Jewish, and other multinational owners so if those guys see better football commercialization opportunities in other regions they have the insider information to draw surgically attractive enough packages for peak age European stars to actually take at any of their non-Europe clubs. That's why Messi is in Miami and Ronaldo in KSA rather than Spain, Portugal, Argentina. KSA, Qatar, UAE also have a unique advantage in that they own stakes in the major airlines around MEA and central Asia so recoup more money than other regions from international football tourism from rich diehard fans who can and will throw cash to attend all the tourneys. It's also why a bunch of minor European cups are hosted in Dubai now like the Copa del rey.
