My assessment on Jaquez last game is he needs to knock down open jumpers. He can't be going 0 for 7 on wide open jumpers. However, the best use for him is not as a spot up shooter. He should be in the game when he can be used as a ball handler or posting up in triangle formation.

Yes. Better than pretty much every one of them. That doesn't change the boneheadedness of handing out extra years to older players.

It would be ideal to let him play towards his strengths (the same goes for every player), but unfortunately he's not good enough at this point to build around what he does well. We need roles filled and he needs to figure out a way to fill one of those, or he's going to have trouble getting playing time as the season goes.

And then handing out picks to unload those extra years!

We rode out Lowry, so I doubt we dump Love and his $4 mil next season. I just hope we don't extend him.

No need to build around him. The team has to tools already. Its about rotation and system. They shown to already implement the plays. Spo is using in a variety of situations but eventually they need to narrow down to his strengths. He has the potential to be a high level 6th man this yr.contract wrote:twix2500 wrote:My assessment on Jaquez last game is he needs to knock down open jumpers. How had I not seen this? Never mind the rankings ...
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/38661109/zach-lowe-2023-24-nba-league-pass-rankings-teams-30-11
... the opening line of the Heat's section is gold.

22. Miami Heat (27)
Some teams make scoring seem effortless. With the Heat, you notice the effort. You get anxiety sweats watching them sprint and cut and screen and pass just to open one alleyway. Miami last season was 26th in offensive efficiency, 29th in pace, 28th in dunks and first among good teams in making you wonder, "Are they ever going to score again?"
There is beauty in the way the Jimmy Butler-Bam Adebayo teams grind in the half court -- art and precision timing to all their cuts. Last season, it became more of a slog.
Butler is a bruising cutter with genius-level anticipation. He cuts for baskets and free throws, and to draw the defense in ways that unlock open shots for others. Butler is good at so many unglamorous winning things and takes nothing away with turnovers and fouls; a lot of his sometimes unnoticed greatness lies in the absence of negative events.
Adebayo's handoff game is NBA ballet. Erik Spoelstra livens things up with zone defenses and other tactical curveballs.
The Heat somehow seem like a puzzle. They have made two of the past four NBA Finals -- and came within one Butler jumper of making a third -- while averaging a 48-win pace over those four seasons. I mean, what?
Who starts at point guard -- Kyle Lowry or Josh Richardson? Is Kevin Love a viable starting power forward? Can Nikola Jovic and Adebayo play together? Are Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Haywood Highsmith ready?
The turquoise-and-pink "Vice" line of art is sadly mothballed (for now). This year's City Edition jerseys will inspire world-record levels of eye-rolling everywhere outside South Florida.

Heat would be a whole lot more watchable in those Vice jerseys. Those were epic. Hard to match that with the current iteration...

Bezos grew up in Miami.

Kind of a funny tweet though. Considering he is worth over $100B. It doesn't really matter what city he lives in if he wants to buy something...

I went there too, I drive by there all the time still since I take Palmetto Rd over Old Cutler Rd at times when the latter is busy. The best thing Stingy Micky could do for this franchise is sell to Bezos. Then we'd finally have a proper owner who isn't deathly afraid of the luxury tax.twix2500 wrote:Bezos is one of my alumni. If Bezos comes out and says Yo this team gonna be my splurge fantazy. I want to have the greatest team ever assembled, come tax or reason.....Hell yeah I would want him here tonight, Micky go sign right there and sell this thing.
Just imagine the Miami Heat standard SOP still in play, with Heat Culture Mantra, and great coaching but with a backing and bankroll of IDGAF. What would the team look like???

Already have to deal with the fact that Bezos will be one of the major influences of wage stagnation now and in the future-- don't need him taking over the bball world

Both pick Heat from their group which includes Milwaukee. I don't care about the money grab but it is interesting to see their ranking process with certain teams.
