Looking at Miami's current situation for next year...
Butler 48.8
Bam 34.8
Herro 29
Robinson 19.4
That's 132 mil leaving 40 for a minimum 10 more players to get to the minimum 14-man roster.
Players who have contracts without options...
Jaquez Jr 3.7
Jovic 2.6
6 players at 138.3 leaving 33.7 mil for 8 more players.
Guys with options...
Martin 7.1 (probably opts out for more)
Love 4 (prob opts in)
Richardson 3 (prob opt out, can get the same near minimum price elsewhere)
Bryant 2.8 (prob opt out, can get the same minimum elsewhere)
But if those 4 opted in now Miami would be at 155.2 with 10 players under contract leaving 16.8 for 4 more players.
Drafting a player will eat up ~2 mil, so you're now at 157.2 with 11 players leaving 14.8 for 3 more players and with the MLE around 13 next year, Miami couldn't use all of it's MLE and stay under the cap even with adding rookie minimum players.
The point being is that if Lowry is moved and you bring back any salary that goes past this season it means some interesting decisions will have to be made with some of the players to stay under the tax for next season, it's why I can't see Miami sending Lowry out and bringing back much if any salary back that goes into next year if not longer. Even if you were to trade Lowry and Martin, bringing anything back over his 7.1 that I noted above means having to move players to clear up space to get under the tax.

Didn't the Heat stay below the tax last year, so they will not be penalized for repeater tax this season
A move I think to keep an eye on is Coby White and DeRozan.Pokuokic wrote:The Heat need to try get TJ Mcconell a Buddy/McConell for Lowry works but you would have to throw in assets.

I like McConnell. He’s a Jimmy guy too, and would pair well with Tyler in the backcourt given his tenacity.

He's too young, we need someone who is experienced enough. Can't trade for players that are still projects, else Sexton would be an option too, but I just don't have him as a win now player and more a guy who needs more experience to impact winning on a high level.

Miami did a smart thing, they hired a top basketball mind in Riley and let him run everything with a few constraints with the money but that run is coming to an end with Riley at 78, maybe Spoelstra will take his place in a few years.
For me, I'd want my team's owner to not just be a rich person, but a rich person who understands how to build infostructure and that's what Bezos is great at, I'd also suspect he'd see value owning an NBA team and also owning Amazon Prime which has been working on getting into the live sports arena although I'm not sure how the digital rights work and what complications that could bring.
