Amazing game tonight. AB proving me wrong not being a huge negative as a rookie so far - will hit walls but seems to have a great mindset. I don't think Jett is ready to be a full time contributer in the same way just yet but it will come along. Goga was awesome.
HOWEVER.... Paolo and Franz getting their head out of their asses and playing like the #1 and #2 options they are is the engine of this team and propels us to win games, because when the other guys are doing all the little hustle plays and putting in effort, we need them to come through with their scoring punch and playing aggressively while knocking down open shots.

Wasn't able to watch this game but wow! Great result and pleased to read all the comments and seeing some of the highlights.
How did AB / Suggs look from a spacing / roles / playmaking point of view?

I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

I can't believe how much better he looks since preseason play. Fearless. I guess you can develop while on the deep bench after all.SOUL wrote:Amazing game tonight. Very good point.
Yup.. paolo and franz doesnt have to defer to the vets fultz and wcj so they can without conscience try to get theirs.
They know one is a rookie and the other is a 3rd string C who is probably just glad to be in the league still. They know Goga won't be like wcj who looks to get his as well..... except probably for that sequence where goga waived off AB and was doing his 18yr old boban impersonation on that movie where he waived off Trae to dribble the ball and initiate offense.

Franz was really attacking all game long. Its like he put his TRoss blinders on saw nothing but the basket. Its actually a good thing for us.

The other thing about the Suggs/AB back court besides the suffocating D is that they are both really good at cutting without the basketball.

Fun fact: we won't be playing Lakers again until late 2024 or early 2025.
Anyway, we won game on energy and hustle plays, our offensive rebounds & second chance points were through a roof.
And in first half, but especially first quater we couldn't miss from deep.
Our roster, especially one who was aveliable for last night is way better suited for fast pace offense instad of choking ourselfs in half court.

Our starting lineup ages are 24, 22, 22, 20, and 19 and they were very poised last night.

I see nothing wrong in criticizing Mosley when he makes stupid decisions. I wrote its unbelievable that Banchero/Ingles played only 7 minutes together in the first 4 games... this game first change Franz out Joe in... last two game Banchero/Ingles 14 minutes.
Another thing is our perimeter defense. I always wrote that Fultz is average defender. Rookie in his first game as a starter played better D than Fultz in any games i remember.
Bitadze provided better rim protection than WCJ in a long time. Its kind of sad.
Franz and Paolo play much better when they are fighters around them, especially Paolo feels like is draining confidence from teammates. Black is a fighter and Bitadze seems tough at least for now. I dont like to say it, becouse i like him but WCJ is easly intimidated and first to wave the white flag while Fultz is scared to shoot 3s and now even bricks free throws most likely from stress.
Its the beginning of end at least for one of them.

My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

It was more visually pleasing watching Black and Goga in the SL because they didn't force one single shot last night. Fultz and Wendell take a handful of bad shots per game.
Black and Goga won't have the same PPG, but I'll say it, they are better defenders and move the ball.

I loved our rebounding dominance, 26 second chance points in the first half alone was incredible.
That's the way we need to play, we are a young team with lots of depth, so high tempo and high energy with lots of players used is the way to go.
Black looked really good, which was very nice to see. Paolo and Franz were great. I love the improvement in Paolo's passing and defence. Goga was really good too, so was Mo. Ingles looked better than in the first few games. Paolo just seems much more comfortable when he plays without Fultz, it's not only the spacing, they have never developed any real chemistry together offensively.
This Lakers team is just hopeless without LeBron, it's honestly emparassing for their front office they need to rely on a 39 year old so much in the regular season. Even on average night for him he was +12 in 35 minutes and the Lakers were an incredible -31 with a laughable 53.8 ORTG in the 13 minutes he sat.

28 shots for Wagner and 15 shots for Banchero. I honestly don't care about the results as much as the process. Those two guys have to be our best players every night and we have to play through them to be successful in any real way. We go as far as those two guys want to take us. Loved their aggression last night. Great minutes from Bitadze and Black. Those guys stepped up and came through in their roles. Fun night in Orlando. Love seeing the sad wave of yellow leave the arena early.

We are legit positioning Franz to be our first option. Really interesting.Def Swami wrote:28 shots for Wagner and 15 shots for Banchero. I think this was the first win against the LAL since 2018. Is that correct?

If Franz keeps getting 28 shots per night, he'll have some games where he hits 20+ shots. Franz and Paolo could both be 23-27 PPG players with the right players around them.
