Batum was at the facility and did a media interview this week. He also did an instagram post or whatever about how he’s excited to play for the Sixers. Guessing he’s figuring out some family stuff then will start playing. Not worried about him.

Honestly, this team looks really good to just enter the playoffs with.
Embiid and Maxey are your two stars. Harris and Oubre putting up big production as #3 and #4 options.
There's a lot of guys on this roster with 36% or higher career 3 pt shot.
There's a lot of athleticism on the wing to help compete defensively.

I’m waiting for the evil Oubre to present himself. That said, it doesn’t appear that you need one guy dribbling the air out of the ball for the entire possession for us to be efficient.

So how are we feeling about Paul Reed as the backup C?
Do you think we need more size and better offense there or are you good with a defense-only smallball C?

I'm happy with BBall. Considering how much burn you expect the backup C to get in the playoffs and the other needs of the team, I think BBall is fine. I would not be willing to spend a lot on an upgrade.

Reed is fine and the second unit will improve as some of the acquired vets start getting minutes, but still need a real ball handling guard there.
The problem is Bamba. I like having Reed and a bigger center available especially if Jo takes the night off or certain matchups, but Bamba is unplayably bad. I suspect our third center will be more like Morris, Covington or Batum until we make a trade and move Bamba as a small outgoing throw in piece.

The influx of wings they just traded for should help. He's not a center, if he is, it's best to have 3 defensive capable wings on the floor with him. That way you have more size to box out and rebound, to switch, and to dig and crowd larger post players. I would think Morris would be in the mix here to play next to Reed, he's played a ton of small ball C.
So interested in seeing how that plays out. Compared to trying it out with the likes of McDaniels (who was more potential than anything defensively) and Niang

They'll be fine as is as a competitive team in the playoffs, but make the right move, you can keep all of the guys that have been there prior to the trade and they could become a team that should win a ring this season.
I was always a fan of the Oubre move to make them a top seed without Harden. Having him this season at this price is a gift now after the trade. Got to be aggressive.

Sounds like Batum will be joining the team and playing Monday possibly according to Haynes.

Now that his wife let Batum out of the house, we'll have a logjam of wings needing minutes. Curious to see how Nurse handles it.

He’ll get those Korkmaz minutes in our last game against the Suns

I want to see him play double big before I give my final judgement.
The biggest selling point for me about Reed is his upside to play with Biid in a double big line-up, and also play as back-up big. If he can’t provide that, then i’d rather have someone playing with more control instead

We’ll never know until we face good teams in close games.
Until then, it’s easy to look good with vanilla defense. But its very promising, the length on defense, the improved shot blocking, deflections and rim protection. We can play 2 man games down the stretch with better cutting from Oubre, Melton and Tobi.
But I just wonder what if teams just intentionally leave Roco or Melton open. One of them has to end games with our fantastic 4. Maybe its gonna be Batum or Springer perhaps?

Oubre has flaws, or he wouldnt have signed for a minimum contract. But Charlote was a mess last year, and he had to do a lot more than he will have to do here. So i think he will have a nice year with us. We have Maxey, Embiid and Tobias, so he will have a simplified role: he just need to shoot 3s and defend.

I think Oubre is also benefiting greatly with Nurse as the coach. The entire team looks more enjoyable and looser and the emphasis on team defense allows long athletes like Oubre to contribute beyond their one on one defensive skills. It’s organized chaos which fits guys like Oubre, Reed and late career Roco quite well.

Think he checked in at the end of Thursday's win over Toronto.

KJ Martin should eventually be playing. He needs to learn what's going on in Nurse's system. Once he does that, he'll be playing minutes. It would be an absolute travesty for Nurse to leave him on the bench.
