When the Nets went on a run early in the 3rd, Jrue went blue-collar and scored inside the paint.

Kept the Celts afloat until the Nets started missing again.

Jrue is the perfect PG for this team.

Not just Marcus but remember when everyone thought Malcolm was the missing point guard we needed lol. Malcolm could shoot for sure but Jrue is just a way better passer

Also true.

It's not even close.

Jrue is an All-Star.

Malcolm is just a very good player.

All true. But keep in mind Brogdon was coming off the bench in a different role. He can no doubt score the ball and I can all but guarantee that his instructions from coaching as the 6th man was to get shots up. If Brogs had been in the starting role like Jrue is we might have seen a little more passing and setting guys up.

In no way am I saying Brogdon is better than Jrue. He's not. And for sure not on the defensive side. I just don't think he would have had as much of a shoot first mentality as he was in a starting role.

VC/CP

It appears board is torn on who to vote for CP. The Minotaur and The Unicorn are nearly deadlocked.

As others have noted in this thread, Tatum is just playing on a different level. I know that this is probably mostly natural next step progression, but I can't help but wonder how much finally spending meaningful time with the Truth has impacted his ferocity and game in general, because it seems palpable.

In my mind, this summer the two of them played out the plot of the Karate Kid full on with musical montages, and the season will end with Tatum crane kicking Jokic while dunking from the free-throw line to win the finals and be crowned finals MVP.
“There’s a sense of pride, there’s an edge you have to have to play here. I can only imagine the love, the reception, if you hung one of those banners up. It would be incredible — it’s going to be incredible. I know it.” —Jayson Tatum

They're gonna need to resolve that.

They will. Either the guys already on the roster elevate their play or Stevens is going to reconfigure the bench at the deadline.

Kornet was playing really well.

I think Joe wanted to close with KP, who played 30 minutes, but perhaps didn't want to overtax him, which fits with what most of us want.

Tatum and Jrue played 40, Jaylen 35, KP and Al 30.
Hauser and Pritchard 19, Kornet 15, Oshae 11.
Pretty good night covering up for Derrick's missing 30 IMO.

83-0 if the tournament win counted.

Important Note: The Celtics are now 11-2 against the Nets since Kyrie Irving stomped on the centercourt logo. In the two losses, he didn't even play.

EDIT: Kyrie is winless (0-8) against the Celtics since the incident.

mostly boring game, at 3rd gear and too few sets for my taste. Still somewhat fun. Shows how important White is for everything we do. Tatum otherworldly. Keep winning

also the defensive effort was low. you do that, you win by 30 and get to rest the starters...

I don’t recall any 3/4 to full court pressure last night. I’m sure it was the like of DWhite but that was a welcome sight the first 4 games and preseason and certainly a factor in the Nets low turnover numbers.

They were also playing two guards + 3 small forwards the whole game.

PP did it at least once, but yeah it was not prevalent.

I really like the way KP fits in to the Celtics scheme and Tatum has legitimately leveled up. It'll be interesting to see what Brown's reaction is to being the third option on offense is as the season progresses - maybe he doesn't care because he's paid, but every time the Nets funneled the ball to him I was ecstatic as bad basketball was about to occur.

Jaylen would be elated to know that fans get excited when he gets the ball, even if it's fans of the other team.

Bob Ryan said the 2008 team was blown out once but competed so hard that the other 15 game they lost were contested and winnable. Doc said he has never seen a team play or compete harder every game than that team that season.

We won’t go 82-0 but it would be nice to see this team stay competitive every night given talent of top 6.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
