Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 6
I believe in this guy from day 1, even though honestly during the Draft I expected Sugs to be chosen.
Scottie seriously has the potential to become something closer to Prime Lebron James.
I don't know if he will succeed, but thanks to VanVleet's departure (thank goodness again), his game has benefited a lot, and when Siakam leaves, it will be even better.
The steps forward and improvements are evident, both in 3-point shooting and free throws. I don't want to get too excited yet, but consistency has also arrived, this boy can lead us to a second title, I know it.
Players so flexible, so complete and capable of doing anything, haven't been seen since 2003 with Lebron.
The most important thing is that he is secured with a 5-year contract as soon as possible.

if he gets 20/10/6 for the season... i am sure he would be MIP.
It’s gonna be really tough to beat Maxey.
Not only is he gonna explode with his scoring numbers, the media narrative is already biased that way with Harden’s departure, meanwhile our team barely exists in the minds of US media. I think it would/will literally take Pascal being traded fairly soon & Scottie averaging like 23+ppg because I think Maxey is gonna near the mid 20s or more unless PHI does in fact trade those picks for Zach or one of our guys.
One thing Scottie has going for him is he isn’t playing with an MVP and he’s overtaken Siakam as the best player on the team.
But your point is definitely valid. Scottie had an uphill climb.

Yup. And it’s glorious to see.
Still need to iron out some wrinkles though.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 6
I honestly don't even believe what I'm seeing. The biggest thing is the shooting. He took a weakness and turned it into a strength. He's hitting from everywhere including above the break threes. He doesn't even have to keep this pace up, even if he drops back to mid 30s from 3, that would still be a huge net positive considering the volume.
He's playing at an all-nba level at both ends. His numbers are pretty crazy right now -- 22.6 PPG, 9.9 REB, 5.9 AST, 2.1 BLK, 1.1 STL with shooting splits of .513 FG, .421 3PT, .759 FT, .609 TS and he's doing this with a 26 usage level.
Barnes emerging as a top player is way more important than what the Raps record ends up this year. if we know he can become a top 15ish player, that means building a team around him which is a lot easier to do than trying to find a top 10-15 player.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread - Part 6
I can't recall a Raptor dominating a game like that since Kawhi. This wasn't a hot shooting night. He was all over the place with key steals, key rebounds and key assists. He also made 2 clutch FTs late in the 4th. That was a case of "give me the f'n ball and get out of the way".
The vets (Temple and OPJ) were all in on the celebration, especially in the locker room afterwards when he was given that player of the game award from Darko. Not to get overdramatic but this game was the official handing of the torch IMO. It's undoubtedly his team and everyone knows it but most importantly, everyone seems to be embracing it.

Barnes is a beast! I love what I'm seeing from him this year in this role
There were 3-4 posters who were extremely loud last year, who were belittling posters who wanted Scottie to take the reigns. I notice those posters are very quiet this year, and hopefully they stay that way

Oh theyll be back if he has a shooting slump or plays through an injury and starts looking pedestrian athletically, thats usually when they attack.
I think theyre from either Fred or/and NN camp.

We saw this last season. 4th quarter Scottish. When the game is in the balance.
Others could only do it in the first quarter and first half, and then disappear when the game mattered.
This is why Scottish is the one.
What we are seeing now? We was robbed of by certain guys last season.

Never thought he'd consistently drop 20+ points like this.
Never showed this type of offensive mentality even in HS or college.
Definitely happy to be proven wrong.
As much as I love siakam I trust Barnes offense to translate in the playoffs. Just plays with so much force and doesn't really rely on a finesse game.

1/2 of the deadwood is gone. Don't underestimate opportunity when it arrives.

My favourite shot from him yesterday. Beautiful Gradey dart + you can see the full comfortability from Scottie in taking that shot. Body language oozing with confidence.

Now the Raptors have a clear direction sitting right in front of them. Build around Scottie! He is the franchise and key to us being a competitive team in the future. He has the "IT" factor, the clutch gene, the dog in him, the alpha and oh boy has it made this season worth watching.

Will! Welcome back. I looked over your last bunch of posts in late October, couldn't see anything remotely ban-worthy. Can't figure out what's going on around here. But don't reply anything that would activate the hair trigger
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.
