I want to make sure I understand... What kind of player do you think Paolo is? And what do you expect out of a 'HIM' player?

Guess my answer will be posed in more of a question… When it comes time for the Magic to extend Paolo—do you think he’s really worth a max level deal? Orlando is not a major market team that can afford to pay max money to anyone but a super star….

I think Paolo will make a few All-Star teams—I think he’s a good player, the frustration is believing him to be the cornerstone of the franchise… With that being said, I don’t think anyone on the team is a cornerstone piece of a franchise… Go get a Donovan Mitchell type to run PNRs all day with those two and I’m on board… Paolo and Franz are the two guys you get to go along a super star IMO…

I'll just respond by letting you know he's TWENTY years old. Look at this list, and other than Wemby, who is CLEARLY better? You can easily argue Edwards but look at Edwards' stats 2 years ago when he was 20. You would be splitting hairs.

Are you calling Donovan Mitchell a superstar? Lol. This is getting ridiculous.

I do agree that two versatile forwards are not enough to just surround with role players…if ORL is going to be a serious team, we’re still missing a significant complementary backcourt scorer…not just a lockdown specialist, not an overly selective 3&D guy, not a one-trick sniper, certainly not a “deferrer “… we’re in good shape, but building primarily around frontcourt stars went away with Bird & McHale era. We’ve got a lot of nice pieces and two legit studs - Franz’ best spot is #3…best player on many nights, contributing in many ways, depending on what’s needed. We’re missing a big piece and we shouldn’t be hoping that some organic BS turns one of our existing role players into HIM.

You mean when he was double and triple teamed the entire half because no one else on the team could do anything? Yep, still signing his praises. lol. The fact that he is facing that much defensive pressure and attention should tell you something about what other teams think about him.

What's "hot take" about noting glaring holes around our real assets? Our roster assembly is haphazard. We've got a lot of role players and two really good players that are very similar in their skillsets...luckily, they are the versatile type of players that are good to have multiples of (like Kawhi & PG, or Tatum & Brown-we hope). But we are a very incompatible roster despite actually having a pretty fair amount of promising talent...by incompatible, I mean that we have several players that are really "good" but would be better on other teams, with different personnel alongside them.

We fans also tend to lean heavily on mental crutches of what players could be, should be, will be, used to be...rather than "are". It's beneficial to have a couple of guys like that (maybe more during a period of "Evaluation") but hopefully, we change the construction of our roster to more "are's" than "might be's".

It is at least a little ironic that y’all are quick to come here and post when he has a good game but when he clearly chokes it’s crickets… Two wide open threes missed and turnovers (charge and telegraphed pass into a zone sit)…

Are we really building this team upon Paolo? I do not think so. They can build it on me and that is all I care. Extremely inefficient

He played terribly down the stretch but didn’t really have a bad game. Shot the ball well with 50%, led the teams in rebounds, second in assists. He needs to cut down on TOs but he is young it’s going to happen. And doesn’t help when your second best player is having an off night as well. I just don’t understand the need to cool him garbage when it’s pretty clear he is going to be a pretty good player.

You do realize he shot 50% from the field, right?

For his body and size, he really reminds me of Julius Randle. He is not a franchise player in my opinion.

It takes a lot more. Speed, explosiveness, ball handling and shooting. He is a very good player. Just to me, I am not ready to hand the keys to him just yet
