Game 7 Pelicans at Wolves 11/8/23

Post#1 » by KGdaBom » Wed Nov 8, 2023 5:53 pm

Zion Williamson out per NBA.Com

ZION WILLIAMSON
11/08/2023 6:43:59 AM
Williamson (personal) will not play in Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves, according to Pelicans announcer Michael Grady. This is another huge blow for New Orleans, as Herb Jones remains questionable to suit up. With Williamson out, we may see a lot of Larry Nance at the four, and that could open things up at the five for Jonas Valanciunas. Williamson's next chance to play will be Friday against Houston.

I'll take it.

Isn't McCullom out as well?
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Yes, he is. This should be a easy win and will tell us a lot about our team. Coming off an emotional win playing a team you should be easy hasn't always been our best performances.

I would love for this to be a breakout game for Towns and to start seeing some smiles/joy in his game.

yes he is, but that's old news so I didn't mention it. Yes they will be missing 2 of their IMO 3 best players against us.

Trending toward playing.
Per NBA.Com.
HERBERT JONES
11/08/2023 8:05:41 AM
Jones (fibula), who is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves, was present for the team’s morning shootaround, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. While Jones hasn't yet been cleared to suit up against Minnesota, his participation in shootaround is certainly encouraging. He's played at least 30 minutes in each of his last four appearances, averaging 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 32.3 minutes per game during that time.

In the past there was a good chance this game would be a loss. We take undermanned teams lightly and I am sure the Pelicans will be running and gunning which is the best way to beat us. We have been spanked in transition. This is indeed a good test. Will we fall into old patterns or will we deal with the speed and play a mature game to get the win?

This might be a Towns game. These undermanned opponents are where Ant has historically taken nights off (and he might have Jones on him), but also are times where Towns has shone. I think of the 60-burger on the Spurs a few years ago for example.

Yup. I expect him to come out swinging.

I expect Herb at the 4 on him with the defensive menace Daniels on ANT.

Daniels/Hawkins/Ingram/Herb/Val

Take a look at Jordan Hawkins tonight.

He is one of the first [of many to come] of players who clearly grew up as Teenagers watching and envying Steph Curry. His shot is a thing of beauty and he moves exceptionally well off-ball. Defensively he will be attacked but he is a polished shooter/scorer offensively.

No Zion.

What a great opportunity for TWolves to stay perfect at home before a difficult 5 game road trip.

I think the method for unlocking Karl-Anthony Towns might be playing him in the short-roll, rather than high-post catches or starting him above the three-point line. That way, he has momentum moving downhill on the catch with the option to float it up instead.

KAT making 3s early. Let's see him play like the superstar he is from now on and we can forget about all the negativity.

Everyone in the starting line up except Gobert has a 3. Love it!
