Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 1
The main (only?) reason I'd take Cunningham is size as a lead ball handler and the higher theoretical defensive outcome. Maxey is quickly closing the gap as a playmaker and is quite a bit better offensive player.

We would still have money/option to sign OG and retain one of Tobias/Oubre for the full MLE this summer.
Brooklyn is likely only going to trade him for a player, not assets. However, they should really consider it as he's clearly just a number 3 option.
No top option is going to want to be there if he leaves, so that should just enhance their rebuild.
Also. I And 1 a post regarding Cam Thomas being a great option for Philly, I always get him and Johnson confused. Johnson is a fine option
Yea it was interesting hearing Morey on the RTRS pod the other day. He said with the rise of Maxey, they maybe don't have to chase a "2nd best player" on a championship team and can pursue players that would qualify as the 3rd best. He also stressed that they have to be two-way players because it gets tough in the playoffs if you're only elite on one end.
I just love the idea of him + OG starting alongside Embiid and Maxey. Even if Mikal isn't the player we get, someone like him would be awesome. I prefer him over OG if we had to choose just one because OG can't create on offense, whereas Mikal has taken that leap.
Ingram is another option but NOLA has been resistant to trading him for anything in the past. Not the defender that Bridges is, but would fit like a glove here.

Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 1
So my feeling is that Siakam will be the easiest player to get by the deadline that can really help the team. They didn't negotiate an extension coming of an all star season. They're struggling and he's in Barnes way, while pushing 30. They will probably try to keep OG, as he's still in Barnes window. Unless OG wants to leave.
Though, I think Chicago should want to dump Lavine while he's healthy and playing well... Plus typically having a more secure contract gets you more assets. It may be too expensive.
I can't see the Cavs trading Mitchell, they'll try to make that work unless he requests out. But, I'm sure Morey will check in.

Some stuff out there last week saying the Sixers don't have interest in Siakam, but they do in Anunoby.

Interesting that the Sixers have three of the top ten.

Pressure is on Chicago.
Hopefully means nothing to us unless it's a deal for DDR, which I could live with.

Gotta be DeRozan. Can't imagine having zero cap flexibility with LaVine going into next year's FA when we could have DeRozan, who would be a better fit (in my opinion; I know other's absolutely hate his fit here).

My favourites are:
Option A. Marcus Smart
Option B. Dejounte Murray
Option C. Malcolm Brogdon
Smart would be a good complement to Maxey, but I worry he'd be a Celtics double agent just like Al Horford was. Can't be trusted!
Murray would also be great but I doubt the Hawks give him up as he's a great fit with Trae Young also.
Brogdon is also a good partner for Maxey and shouldn't cost too much in trade. But I worry about his injury history. Never can trust guys the Celtics trade away.

Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 1
I question DeRozan's fit here. We're #1 in the entire league in O-Rating. Why exactly do we want him considering his ISO-centric tendencies, refusal/inability to shoot 3's, and lack of defense?
We need tough defenders who can shoot alongside Embiid and Maxey.

Patrick Williams is the only Bulls player I'd want. Can defend and hit threes.

I'd take a shot at him if the price is right. Still super young (just turned 22) with a ton of physical talent and traits. Would like to see what Nurse could do with him.
The other guy I'd want on Chicago is Alex Caruso.

We don't need Derozan here, for God's sake. If we are going to bring an ISO chucker with no defense, at least hes has to be able to hit the 3.
I agree that players like Williams and Caruso are the archetype we should be targeting. Williams is too raw for Biids contending window tho.

Williams has 150 career starts and is a career 40% three point shooter with 2.5% block percentage. Not really raw, he's basically a plug and play three and d player with the athleticism to defend the Boston wings.

Tyrese is our only creator on the entire team and his creating ability is inflated by having the responsibility to himself. Getting another version of Covington, albeit younger, isn’t going to fix that glaring hole.
DeRozan a chucker? That’s a new one.

If not DeRozan, I’d go discount and get Hayward. Expiring and they aren’t going anywhere this season. Morris, Melton, Kork and a pick would prob do it.
