OK, so before some of us get upset over this. We won! We also knew they were going to make a run. It's Boston, they are the best team in the league and they weren't just going to quit or give us this. I was expecting this to happen. Again, mad props to Coach Nurse! He puts the right guys out there at the right time. We're defensively focused and we're going to be a problem for the league this year with our length. Our offense needs to do its thing, but if we're as serious defensively as we appear to be, then we're going to have a great season.
I came away impressed. This felt like a playoff game from the moment it got going. Can we beat them in a seven-game series?

Yep, it's pretty obvious and I'm happy this game spotlighted that. Morey is watching...

Melton needs to go to the bench. We need another answer there.

yeah Pat Bev in the same corner lol

They didn't even consider covering Bev, and the Sixers didn't consider passing to him.

I still think the Celts are a great variance-shooting team.

Porzingis is an issue for us tho because he actually can force Embiid out of the paint. Still i don't think the celtics beat Denver, they have the same issues of last season: Too much dependence on 3s, a lack of playmaking, bad coaching

I do like the intensity of the game, and plenty to work on for Nurse.

Why Oubre wasn't in the game must be 24 dimensional chess, cause I don't get it. He had no fear against them, and he rides the pine. I'm hoping Nurse was just experimenting....hoping at least.

We did take our foot off the gas up 14 with just over 2 mins left. Should learn a lesson to keep playing until the wire.

But man. thats why they DO need a 3rd guy, cause Joel isn't a big game closer. Just too hard for a big man. Plus, Joel isnt a good decision maker.

They turned the ball over like 3 times they didnt even need to score. They need to replace Melton in the starting lineup his ball handling is rudimentary for a guard.

I agree with this. He is not starter material at all.
always a jump shot away.

It's never easy with this team. I guess it's progress that we went from collapsing in the final 6 minutes with Brett and Doc to the final 2 minutes with Nurse.

Melton stinks. I've seen enough. I never understood the love he got last year. Bench player at best.

Agree that we have too many undersized guards and that we need to cash in on Melton.

I think Melton shot will eventually start falling. What pisses me off with him is the head down drives to the rim over length thinking he’s going to get a foul. Oubre needs to move to SG and Batum at SF until we find a starting wing or 2 way 2-guard.

I also don’t like the embiid post ups on the corners down the stretch. Too easy to double and he can’t make that cross corner pass. And Maxey has to pass to Beverly in the corner on that shot clock violation where Brown blocked him lol.

A third guy won’t matter if our late game offense is trying to feed Embiid posting up 20 feet from the hoop with Porzingis fully leaving his assignment to double. That was some vintage Sixers bullsh*t.

Awesome win tho & we have the wings for this matchup finally. Just gotta make some lineup tweaks & avoid some bad habits.

Embiid actually pointed to him after he got rid of the ball. I don't know why Maxey didn't see him.

Huh, so Nurse says that he picked Batum over Oubre for defensive purposes, can't fault that but we needed someone to score one on one at the end of that game. Batum can't help with that.

Yea I don't get it. I don't know if it's because Oubre got the tech bit I don't think he got back on the floor after that. Did he?

Or they need to get some plays to draw the defense and kick it out. Batum can be that guy on the perimeter. Maxey and Embiid need to do better finding the guys whether it's Batum or Oubre or somebody else.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
