We need more shooting, more defense, another playmaker.
Ball, Miller, Mark are untouchable. Very unlikely we trade Terry. He has two more years of salary after this year, which just limits the number of teams that are interested. Guys like Thor, Bouknight, Ish Smith just don't carry large enough cap hits to really get any meaningful deals done. Cody Martin has 1 more year of guaranteed money after this year, since 4th year is unguaranteed, given his injury status I think it would be tough to move him unless he is part of a larger deal where we are giving up draft capital ie: player a, Martin, first round pick for Player B. Nick Richards 5 million could be a nice toss in a deal, but we have no depth at Center so that limits are options. Miles Bridges is UFA, so the team acquiring him would really have to see him more as a rental at this point, so he probably isn't returning much in any deal.
IMO our number 1 trade asset is Gordon Hayward. Since he is expiring he has a lot of utility to the acquiring team, they could be dumping a contract for him, they could be viewing him as a 1 year rental for a title trip, Hornets could get aggressive and just use him as a large matching salary and attach multiple assets to him to upgrade a position for the long-term. Lastly, we could just flip him for 2 bench depth pieces that Hornets can see more long term use for.
I am not saying dump him for nothing, but chances we resign him are low IMO. We already gave LaMelo his money essentially, so letting Hayward walk doesn't open a 1 for 1 cap space hole. So chances are if we wait then he walks for nothing.
