Im hoping we win a chip & don’t have to worry about it but I think it’s definitely a discussion at this point.
Give your trades.

I want a package similar to that of the Harden trade.
With JT and KP, what the Cs need now is complementary players and bench depth.
The ball will move more if you have players who will reinforce your star player instead of trying to compete with your star player.

Looking back and seeing what's happening now, the Celts are better off if they traded JB for Bradley Beal.
At least Beal is not dumb.

I was hoping they could reunite Jaylen with Ime for Sengun, FVV (cap purposes) and the Rockets
Lottery Pick, but Sengun is really playing well.
A bench scorer and a young Big who could develop is what they should target in a JB trade.

Brown for Zach Lavine & Pat Williams could be interesting.
Brown for Hunter, Bogdy & Okongwa?
Brown for Mitchell? This one might have some legs.
Brown for Ingram, an old favorite...

What I've learned over the years, as long as the player is considered a star player, there will always be buyers.

A better player at SF, PF or combo forward.

Re: Hypothetical: Realistically what’s the type of player or players you would like back in return in a Brown trade ?
Ideally a package headlined by a big forward who can shoot some, defend, pass and punish mismatches inside. That way we can shift Tatum down and have a big and dominant defensive lineup.
Someone like Aaron Gordon would be ideal. Hunter has the potential even if he lacks Gordon's explosiveness but he's just worse at everything to a point where he's not exactly a big forward who can shoot some, defend, and punish mismatches. Siakam isn't an option since he's a UFA.
Markannen would be a nice get but he makes only $18 mil next season so would be really hard to match.

They could S&T Siakam for Brown... possibly. Same with OG.
Overpaid contract or not, Brown is eminently trade able, even if the Celts have to take a bad contract back
in the deal.

Nope, they could not. Cs would be hardcapped. Way past the 1st apron as it is.

Giannis makes $48 mil. so he could headline a package but he would have to learn to play without the ball.

2 things, a sharpshooter sf who defends ideally
depth
PG: Jrue - Great
SG: WHite - Great
SF:
PF: Tatum - ELITE
C: Kristaps - Great
Ideal target would be OG/Boucher/Trent for Brown
Toronto
Schroeder
Brown
Scottie
Siakam
Poeltl
Celtics
Jrue/Pritch/Banton
White/Trent/Walsh
OG/Hauser/Stevens
Tatum/Boucher/Brisset
KP/Horford/Kornet
Another
DFS, Sharpe and Royce for Brown
Nets
Dinwiddie
Thomas
Brown
Bridges
Claxton
Celtics
Jrue/Pritch/Banton
White/Royce/Walsh
Tatum/Hauser/Stevens
DFS/Horford/Brissett
KP/Sharpe/Kornet

If goal is a title next 2-3 seasons, I'd be content with an opted-in Paul George as long as he pre-agrees to an extension ala Porzingis. He's a much better defender, playmaker, and offball player than Jaylen even at his age. Of course if you can fool a team to give up someone younger with a similar profile, you do that instead.

I see that now (S&T player void if it keeps them over the apron) and they need to use the TPE this season: can't carry it over to the next year.
So goodbye Siakim, OG and others. We hardly knew ye....

Re: Jaylen Brown – All-NBA, 2nd Team 2023
Zoya said this over in the game thread, so I took it here: "It's [Jaylen's talent] still a high ceiling against 90% of the league"
I like the way he put this. Because if you're goal is championships, suddenly 90% = 0%.
Musing a little over here, but if we can trade JB to a small market team that isn't realistically trying to win a championship that 0% goes to 90% and basically he's much more valuable to them for marketing dollars etc. I can only hope Celtics management understands all of this, being business savvy. As far as I can tell there was no reasonable way to trade JB (rather than sign him) and not lose way too much value in the process. Some small market team however may still love to trade for him once he's eligible.

Ingram
Markkanen
OG
BRidges
Bane
Those guys would all be a sytemic upgrade over brown, imo

flintsky21 wrote:Right now, there really isn't any big difference between a Jaylen Brown and a Kelly Oubre who's being paid at the vet min.
I disagree in this sense:
There is ONE limitation that I can see. Kelly Oubre understands his limitations. Oubre knows his lane and he stays in it.
There are posters suggesting that JB is selfish is the cause for his play and I don't think that's it. I honestly don't think the man has a selfish bone in his body. His problem is that he doesn't know how to "see the floor" and he cannot process complex decision options based on what the defense is doing in real time yet continues to put himself in those difficult situations because he truly WANTS to help the team win. But beyond basic reads time and time again, history has shown that he just cannot do this with any consistency.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!
