Is Giannis on a Decline?

Through 7 games he is averaging 24 9 and 3…

This season his numbers are down across the board pretty significantly.

He doesn’t have a game that ages well considering he relies on athleticism and doesnt seem to have any go to moves he can go to to make the game easier for him. He’s not a good shooter either.

Is this just early struggles or is he on the decline?

He is, but he should have 3-4 more very good years in him. But he's not a world beater anymore. Like a '21 version.

It seems like both Giannis and Dame are trying to not step on each others toes and it's causing some issues. Dame's numbers are down also, but again it's a transition, crap when LBJ and Bosh joined Wade in Miami the team was nowhere near it's best form until 20ish games in.

Looking at the numbers when they just went out and massively shook up the roster is a bit weird.

Numbers aren't too bad, 7 game sample, down 3% in the FG area, still trying to adapt to having Lillard, new coach, etc.
Should improve, unless the coaching change was a bad decision, that could affect everyone involved

Well he got ejected early yesterday so it will have an impact on a small sample size but I will give you his advance and per36 are down.

I think he will be fine the next two years. He is coming off knee surgery and adjusting to a new coach who seems to want to drastically change **** will also adding Dame really late. We are still a top 3 team this year.

I think it is fair to wonder how he will age 30-33 as a lot of athletic bigs decline quickly. He hasn't developed the touch and feel for the game like we have hoped. BBIQ seems to almost have declined but that again may be due to a radically new system than he has had to play the last 5 years which was "Everyone stay the f- out of the lane and sit on the 3 point line while Giannis drives." Now he is being asked to play off ball, set screens, cut, etc

He had a cleanup procedure on his knee this offseason, missed the World Cup because of it, and was only cleared to run like 6 weeks ago and is still working his way into top game shape. Can we at least wait until like December or something, and not 6 games into the season, before we start with stuff like this?

He is showing signs of low testosterone. His hair loss and lack of density. Lack of focus. He doesn’t defend anymore and can’t jump as high and elevate. That miami series broke him not just mentally but physically. Next year he might only average 15 and 7. He is trending in the Blake Griffin direction unfortunately

He had zero off-season after a knee procedure and is adjusting to new coaching and star next to him. He also only played 1/2 game last night due to an ejection.

I dunno, maybe try giving this a real sample size? Just a thought.

Yes he may be 28 but that doesn’t mean he can’t be on a decline. Guys like Blake Griffin, KAT, Amare all declined heavily around that age. I’ve noticed this season it’s been getting tough for Giannis to drive by defenders and his lack of a counter move puts him in a tough position.

He could have very well peaked in 2021. But who knows.

He looks like a player who had a shortened offseason due to a knee procedure. Give it time.

Offensively he has been on the decline for a few years now. His free throw shooting is getting worse and he still can’t score outside the restricted area.
