As I said before preseason even started, he is years away from what most of this forum have already pencilled him in for.

Yep, he's clearly got the ceiling to be the best player in the NBA.

I don't want to drag it off topic.

But Chet is playing like what most people thought they had Wemby pencilled in for, maybe even better tbh given Chet looks like he will be one of the leagues best perimeter shooters and how outrageously smooth he is with the ball. I have very little doubt Chet is going to be one of the best players of the next 10-15 years.

Not a massive game on paper, but good god, have a look at the skill on display here.

Wemby shows flashes of this polish every game, Chet just plays with it constantly.

Maybe we need a Chet thread.

Keep it for a Holmgren thread, but yeah he's amazing.

Chet is also two years older and has had the benefit of being with an NBA team and training with NBA guys for over a year now. It's not surprising he is more consistent at this point. But it's also very obvious that Victor has a much, much higher ceiling.

If Vic had SGA taking attention off of him, Giddey running point for him, and guys like Dort/Williams on the perimeter, he would look a lot better than he does playing with a team that has no PG and no real offensive system thus far

Not shocking really the barely out of high school rookie playing for the worst team in the NBA in point differential is struggling more than the guy in Thunder. Chet only has to be better than J.Williams the 6.7 center...
You might as well compare Zach Collins vs Chet because he is playing very free pressure roleplayer role for Thunders. If he was struggling like Wemby in that role, that would be surprising.

Wemby got booed in MSG because he didn't score 30 there like Lebron, MJ etc. Hype Chet in his own thread.

Well it's what MSG does. Invested crowd in a New York kind of way.

But as a comparison of first MSG games:

This is exactly why you can't compare their situations as rookies, in the future yet.

It is crazy the first name compared to him in that article is arguably the greatest, most dominant big of all time in Wilt.

That is not generic local media or fan sites but quality, serious NBA reporters. Even the best posts in this thread in last few pages is saying patience is needed for his body, strength. It is ok if he isnt destroying people with like a 23 year rookie Wilt or 19 year old Lebron looking like NFL player.

I'm guessing because that way it sounds like the mexican word for "tomorrow" and probably comes out familiar.

You mean "Spanish".

Mexico is a country. The people there speak Spanish, not Mexican ffs.

Imagine getting someone like Harden to run PnRs with Wemby. Who's stopping that lob? It will be the same play every game for every possession

Are the Spurs gonna run the Sochan at PG thing all season? I think it's just a weird fit I think Sochan would work better as a Horns/Mid Post playmaker. I get the potential upside but I don't see it being a serious role for him longterm.

I love it when he works off the PNR and rim runs for lobs. His potential as a paint threat and more specifically a vertical threat is substantial.

I don't know but I hate it. Wembanyama is pretty far off from mañana, the people that say that aren't Spanish speakers in my experience, and English has lots of words like mama, drama, llama, etc that have the correct way to pronounce his name and pretty few that end in -ana. I have to turn off the sound on some streams cuz of that.

Great bounce back game. Looked comfortable tonight against a tough defense.

Sochan at point guard has to stop. Malpractice not putting Wemby in the best positions possible.

It might be smart to put a dent in the crazy hype, expectations this season. If the other rookie takes more of the hype because Spurs are losing too many games for Wemby. Let all nba people, players who don't like Wemby being the alien make their jokes about him being "only a new Bol Bol". The important thing is make it easier for him.

Sochan has great potential, I think you should replace Collins, Jones more. They are too small, weak defenders in C, PG to help in the long run.

They actually ran a couple old Aldridge plays for him and as I suggested a week ago, they worked.

Wemby highlights versus the Twolves.

https://youtu.be/iAesov6ZNds?feature=shared

He had blocks on both Gobert and KAT. The KAT block is especially one to see, Wemby blocked down on KAT like KAT was 6’ tall.

Also several highlight dunks and some impressive shooting. Wemby, himself, can throw a good lob, btw, he threw a scoring lob to Collins.
