But i think some of your earlier posts smack of being unimpressed by it. And it's a bit ludicrous for anyone to be unimpressed by seeing someone play better than any other NBA player has this late in their career, and by an insurmountable margin
No I didn't say anything about it being unimpressive. People are taking umbrage with me saying I'm not surprised by it or saying its not totally unprecedented in sports but that's because I've been around for a while and seen a lot of impressive stuff over the years. I'm just putting it in context as I see it. I think it will mean a lot more though if he can do it for like 70+ games plus a playoffs. That would really set him apart from what other guys have done in their late 30's. Even LeBron hasn't really put both together since 2020.

You can’t win by 30 points if you can only make two three-pointers per half.

Also, it seems like the clippers have any player that they wanted without trading any of their players, and still wound up looking like trash. They need to move between Westbrook and Harden.
Huh?

Man don't disrespect Anderson varejao like that. He's synonymous with Sideshow Bob to me

Lakers got a 37 to 9 free-throw attempts advantage against a G-league stocked tanking team and had to gut out a victory. Not sure what to think

Looks like we got the latter.
Game balls tonight (aside from AD, who was all world and high impact in his minutes):
• Reddish. Set the tone early, trusted his handle and physical advantage to get to the basket and score efficiently. The first quarter probably looks like the Lakers of October / right after Halloween if he doesn’t come out like that. Event creation on defense to create transition plays and hustle was great too. Man, would I be excited to be wrong in this instance.
• Rui. What a way to get back into things. Have no comment on the late game blocking foul (lol), but he was passable on defense tonight while being in the right position inside the arc plenty of times to either get the basket or draw fouls. This is the Rui who Rob felt confident in paying
• Reaves. Not as high as the other three from a +/- standpoint, but I’m very glad he’s gotten his confidence back and kept his head up through a slump that some may have seen as the sky falling. His process in the 3rd quarter with getting downhill is what I like to see.
Very worthy HM to D-Lo’s 11 AST:1 TOV.
A wins a win. Especially when you only make 4 three pointers in 2023. Glad this team embraced a rim scoring identity, which further shows in the FT disparity.

Mattise Thybulle made as many 3s in the first half as the Lakers did as a team for the entire game.

Their 3pt shooting from a volume perspective is comical. 19 3s in a game that's straight from the Heatles days

Can someone put into words why this team is so unfathomably bad from 3?
Before the season I figured they'd be a solid shooting team. Cranjis said that bball index rates this as LeBron's best shooting team since 2017 and the best shooting team of AD's career. But at this point it's starting to feel like, sustainably bad.
I haven't looked at the shot quality stats but if I had to guess I'd say the issue is that Reaves and DLo are the team's two best shooters but since they're being used a lot as on-ball creators the Lakers aren't getting them many easy looks. Add to that the fact that neither can consistently collapse the defense and a lack of off-ball movement and it's resulting in a lot of tough looks for everyone else as well.

Nah we’re getting good shots up lol
Reaves/Dlo/Prince should be our highest percentage 3 point shooters, maybe in that order, the fact that the 3 of them are shooting so poorly early is kind of the issue, and it’ll work itself out, Dlo is shooting the shots he normally shoots, prince has gotten good shots too. Reaves maybe a bit tougher but I’m not worried about his shot either
Outside of that it’s just Gabe/Christie/reddish shooting unreasonably bad early on. (Jesus Gabe lol) but it’ll come back up

The shooters will eventually start making shots, but the worrying thing is how you can play 5 out and everyone who plays can theoretically shoot threes INCLUDING your bigs (i.e., AD and Wood) other than Hayes, but you wind up only taking 19 threes in a game.
For the season after last night:
—Lakers are dead last in the league in three-point attempts and makes per 100 possessions
—Lakers take the third highest % of their shots from 16ft—3pt in the league AND shoot the 5th worst % from there
^This is a coaching and scheme problem right here. We saw a different approach in preseason in which this team was actively hunting for threes.
