I'm curious to see Miller and Garza play together. Can Miller play the PF position with a true center? Also interested to see Moore play some PG. If he has a chance to make it in the league, he needs to be able to play PG.

I hope Moore plays 3&D, while Vit Krejci plays PG.

I see no reason why he can't play the Milton/NAW "PG" role here.

Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
Just watched first Iowa game. One thing I definitely like about our Iowa team is high-low connection between Miller and Garza. Also Garza is a quick decision maker, it reminds me of Reid a lot

You’re right. One of advantages that Garza had with multiple seasons at the University of Iowa was to play with some decent college talent. Keegan and Kris Murray were fast risers, Joe Weiskamp and Jordan Bohannon were high end college players, and the McAffrey boys were obviously the coach’s sons. I think it speeds up passing development when you have smart teammates, knowing where to be on the floor, when to cut, etc.
I don’t know if Luka will be able to carve out an NBA career. I hope he does. I have a soft spot for hardworking, smart players.

One thing that has been an issue for a couple of years is the lack of size on the Iowa Wolves. This season outside of Garza and Miller there is nobody on the roster that is both 6'8" or taller and 200+ lbs. It would be nice to add at least 1 developmental big with legitimate size.

Just looking at the box score, tough second game for Moore. 2-14, 0-9 from 3, -29. Miller nice box score again.

I think that is because usually the path from G League to the NBA is extremely difficult for big men. Guys are better off making their money overseas.

Plus with Garza and Miller themselves being developmental guys to varying degrees do you really want to spread your development staff further?
If you need a big body, a vet seems like a better idea, someone who won't be bothered by variations in playing time and role when Garza and Miller yo-yo back and forward to the NBA team.

Re: Iowa Wolves/G League talk
All of the following pulled from NBA.Com
LEONARD MILLER
11/12/2023 11:19:32 AM
Miller finished with 23 points (10-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal over 36 minutes in Saturday’s 104-79 loss to Windy City. Miller led all Wolves players in scoring and rebounds en route to posting his second straight double-double to begin the G League season. Miller has gotten off to a strong start to his rookie year in Iowa, averaging 23.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals over 36.0 minutes in two contests.
WENDELL MOORE
11/12/2023 11:09:46 AM
Moore posted 23 points (8-22 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals over 37 minutes in Friday’s 125-117 win over Windy City. Moore picked up where he left off last G League season, providing Iowa with an all-around performance in the season-opener while finishing second on the team in scoring and with a team-high-tying assist total in the victory. Moore will see a similar role in 2023-24 as he did last year, likely leading the Wolves offensively on a nightly basis.
LEONARD MILLER
11/12/2023 11:07:06 AM
Miller posted 23 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block over 35 minutes in Friday’s 125-117 win over Windy City. Miller got his professional career off on the right foot in Friday's season-opener, finishing as one of two Wolves with a double-double and one of four Iowa players with a double-digit point total in the win. Miller will play a large role in his first season in 2023-24 as Iowa has high hopes for the No. 33 pick in last June's NBA Draft.
LUKA GARZA
11/12/2023 11:03:46 AM
Garza tallied 37 points (14-21 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 6-9 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists and one block over 38 minutes in Friday’s 125-117 win over Windy City. Garza dominated in the G League season-opener against the Bulls, leading all Wolves players in scoring and rebounds while finishing three points short of the 40-point mark in a double-double appearance. Garza has played well in his time in the G League stemming back to last season as he bounces between the G League and the NBA again to start this year.

More Miller dominating the G League
LEONARD MILLER
11/15/2023 4:54:21 AM
Miller tallied 25 points (8-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block over 33 minutes in Tuesday’s 122-114 loss to Motor City. Miller was once again the leading scorer for Iowa, reaching the 25-point mark while also hauling in a handful of rebounds and notching a trio of steals defensively. Over the first three games, Miller has averaged 23.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks over 34.8 minutes for the Wolves.
Something is wrong with the shooting numbers above. If he scored 25 they have to be wrong. They account for 22 points.

Free throw rule in the G League. They shoot one FT no matter whether, and it's worth 1 point, 2 points or 3 points depending on the situation. So essentially he had three 2-point FTs.

Thanks. I think I heard about that and forgot it. They should adopt that in the big league.

Be interesting to see how that changes strategy towards the end of games , as in theory it should incentivise more fouling if you are behind

Other unique rules have become staples of the current G League game, even if it’s difficult to imagine them ever reaching the NBA. In 2019, the G League instituted the one free-throw rule, which stipulates that only one free throw be taken in all situations during the first 46 minutes of a game. So if Dunn is fouled shooting a three-pointer in the second quarter, he takes one free throw worth 3 points. In the final two minutes, standard NBA free-throw rules apply.

Martin is also injured. I can’t remember what they said he was out for though. Would be nice if injury reports and other things were more available for the G-League.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.
