He had his worst offensive game of the year, off his first back to back makes some sense.
He could have had some tired legs and that may be part of the reason he struggled shooting.

I do like that he seems to have some offensive utility as a guy that can create in the midrange so early, he isn't just attacking closeouts and shooting 3s. Cliff is running some offensive sets for him, would like to see that scale up a bit.

Last night we ran way too much offense for Hayward, he ran out of gas.

Feels like he struggles to find a rhythm when playing with Hayward. Sure he shot the ball 12 times, but those opportunities came sporadically.

Yeah, Gordon for year is 22% usage. Last night he was at 31% according to Bbref.
Whereas Miller is at 17% for year, he was at only 15% last night with starters.
You would think with Terry out Miller's would of went out but Cliff instead funneled more action through Hayward.

The amount of mid free throw line touches Hayward had to start offense was nuts.

Other than wemby is there any rookie that you would trade miller for today, straight up? Only one I'd consider based on first few weeks is Ausar. That dude is unreal defensively.

Chet if you consider him a rookie.

Ausar is basically a better passing gerald wallace. i'd kill for that on this team. wish we could have both miller and ausar.

I'd definitely trade Miller for Ausar, that dude has it.

Ausar is nasty, but I still like Brandon Miller as the 2nd pick.

Miller has shown he is a 2 way player who has potential to be a real offensive threat. Im happy with the Miller pick would still take him #2 overall.

I only caught the second half today. How bad was his ankle sprain?

I initially thought his knee gave out when he went down and came out of the game... but he sat for a couple minutes, played in the 2nd quarter, hobbled for a while and then came out for good.

But the ankle sprain didn't look anything out of the ordinary. Just landed on Hart's foot going up for a layup.

Hopefully he isn't out too long. I thought initially like mentioned it was a knee which would of been weeks and maybe months. The ankle could be just a few games.

Ausar is awesome, he can't shoot at all but he is very very good at everything else. Essentially my take was Scoot, Ausar, Amen all couldn't shoot so if I was taking one of them give me the bigger player who has more utility on both ends.

I like both Thompson twins, but imagine having another offensively challenged guy playing big mins? Miller was absolutely the right pick. Scoot would've worked too, but he's having a rough go so far.

As for Miller's ankle injury, really can't afford to miss him. I hope it's good enough for him to go tomorrow but I realize it could also be a week or two. He was about to pop off yesterday too. The promising news is they said it was day to day and we'll see where he's at Tuesday so there's hope.

Miller is shooting above league averages from 10-16 feet 50% and 16-3pt 57.1%.
Also shooting 75% inside of 3 feet.

Just needs to get a bit more comfortable with the 3 pt line but 10 makes in 9 games isn't disastrous.

Ausar is now 4/27 shooting from 3 in 12 games.

Lowe recognizes
Miller's floor is already a really good versatile two way role player... after 10 games.

This was part of the thesis for Miller as the pick, high floor useful player even if he wasn't a star. I still think he has all the tools to be that superstar wing especially with a ton of the star wings aging out of the NBA like PG, Kawhi, Bron, KD, Derozan, Butler etc...

Whereas small scoring guards who can score the ball are all over the league and very easy to acquire via trade. Scoot could still be him, but Portland fans basically already view him as unplayable if you want to be any bit competitive. I feel the opposite about Miller, he lifts us up at times and defensively his effort and length is noticeable.

I don't think we've yet seen enough to know what the peak version of Scoot Henderson will be, but that's really all that's lacking to close the book on the question of whether the Hornets/Kupchak made the right call at #2 in the draft. peak Miller could be an all-NBA type player, but the floor is already a very solid starter. this is the worst version of him that will exist for his whole career.

As an adamant Scoot supporter pre-draft, I am glad we went with Miller. He’s looked great for a rookie at his position. He’s improving even just in these 9 games so far too. Hopefully he’s back for tomorrow.

I'm still seeing all-star caliber wing with Miller.

Once we get a HC who knows how to use him we will see him score a lot more. Right now he is 3&D which is still very solid. At least we didn't bust on this pick. Miller at worst will be a 3&D wing.

I'm convinced Zach Lowe is the only national reporter that actually watches Hornets games.

Miller will be real good, the role is good for now as he gets used to the NBA, but the ceiling is exciting to contemplate.
