giddey this year is making cade look like steph curry.

Giddey pretty much has the worst FTr in the league, the guy can't get to the line.

24/7/5

horrible percentages and turnovers. needs to improve but nice raw numbers

I like that he's at least getting the shots up, especially 3s (6.5 a game). this is a throwaway year for the Pistons anyways

Monty's gotta stop running him into the ground. He's played the most total minutes in the league by a pretty wide margin and he's coming off of sitting out basically an entire year. No big surprise that his jumpshots suddenly barely make it to the rim. Seems like he should have been on more of a minutes restriction to start this season and work his way up.

Montys playing him like there's a mandate from the FO to get him huge numbers. Doesn't feel organic at all

My buddy described Cade as "Khris Middleton if he were the best player on his team." I enjoyed that take lol.

He really needs better talent around him to open up his game.

If there was a mandate to get him numbers I don't think he'd play him next to only dudes who can't shoot. He'd start Sasser, Burks, Joe Harris, and Stewart and just say go have fun in a spread offense. Not this abomination.

He's been sitting for a year and has come back and racked up almost 10% more total minutes than the next closest non-Piston (Durant). He looks tired, can see it with multiple shots hitting the front of the rim.

Excuses aside, the shot selection has been pretty bad at times and something he really needs to tidy up on to become more efficient.

If you ignore the turnovers, efficiency, and minutes played, he might still have a shot at winning Most Improved Player and making the All Star Game. He has the volume numbers that look sexy to non analytics casuals 23ppg/ 4rpg/ 7apg / 1 Stock

This is Cade's first full season (full so far, knock on wood). I don't think theres any concern. Turnovers are a bit high but that team is packed with players with low bball IQ. When the Pistons are ready to win (hopefully soon), they need to get some vets and get rid of the Wiseman/Bagleys.

Detroit is continuing to lose really badly. Another loss last night from Cade where he shot 26%

young studs usually have much better efficiency numbers early on today. The only case where being less than efficient isn't a major concern is when a player is a freak athlete, but Cade isn't that.

Also Ivey's usage is so strange. Hayes still being in the starting line-up, really confusing, the whole situation seems really fishy, is Detroit really desperate to trade their guy. I don't recall the Knicks doing this with Kevin Knox and yet they were still able to trade Kevin Knox after basically removing him from the rotation. Like Hayes has basically shown he's a defensive 10th on a game so it really doesn't feel like there is much more to go up off of at this point.

He’s not a threat to drive, thats why he can’t get good looks from 3. He is slow to drive, thats why he settles for mid range. Its almost the same problem with DLo. Not always the case, but in general.

The only other decent perimeter shooting threat than Cade in that starting lineup is Isaiah Stewart? Detroit is pushing through a process and it won't look pretty during this phase.

His drive to hoop game is his biggest strength right now. He shoot mid range shots because thats his most comfortable range right now. Chicago made it an emphasis last night to make sure he didn’t get down hill. Cade has no issues getting looks. He’s just struggling to get them to go in right now

The minutes thing is over stated. He’s playing 36mpg.

The reason he has a lead in total minutes is that he’s played 11 games and most teams have only played 9. So he’s played 10-20% more games than most teams. He’s playing 36MPG. 20th in the league in MPG is at 35 mpg.

It’s a lot but a normal amount of burn for a young player. If you look at last years MpG leaders almost everyone in the top 10 were guards / ball handlers and almost all older than Cade.

It’s not unusual. He should be playing 34-37 mpg this season.

offcourse there are "concerns".

Yes Being in Detroit surrounded by lacking talent and lack of direction matters and ofc missing last season matters as well but fact of the matter is he's 22 and as of yet he has been consistent with To's and awful shooting %'s

PG's take longer sometimes and obviously he's got talent, size and skill and he can def turn this around but he's also def not following the usual trajectory for a "star" player.

look at a guy like Hali whose just a year older and is a top 5 MVP candidate this season
can Cade become a Jrue Holiday or a Billups? maybe, but history tells us it's unlikely

most "stars" figure out how to score in the league by the time they are 22 and in their 3rd season, especially ones who've gotten ample PT and opportunity

Cade is still hovering at around 40-41% from the field and 30% from 3, ofc that's "concerning", if he can't score efficiently at all at the NBA level, he'd have to be elite in other aspects of the game and doesn't seem to be the case either

I think Detroit's bigger concern is that there aren't any new recent big man busts left to trade for. They've completely monopolized it and now there's nowhere to grow. Derrick Lively is looking good so that target is off the board. Maybe they can settle for Kai Jones? I just don't think Bagley and Wiseman are enough on their own.

I’m reading my post on this thread a week ago.

I don’t really take any of that back, but today I think I’d simply say “yes, I am concerned”.

Having a WAR of -0.3 is a really, really bad look. There's no other way around it - he's been terrible.

Please Cade don't make me look foolish.
