It's still too early to cite things like NET rating tbh.
Need more time for the minutes to stabilize. One massive game, good or bad, can cause wild fluctuations still.

Goga is definitely not the better defender.
Maybe I’m too high on Goga, but… don’t sleep on him. Goga is definitely better in certain matchups. But he’s probably too big and slow to close out games unless there’s a big you need to put him on. After Isaac I’d trust Goga next if we needed a block or a board.
WCJ is heavier yet more agile and athletic and has a bigger wingspan. He always has a solid rim protection rating despite a lot of fan comments saying he’s not a good rim protector. It’s just not true.
Not saying Goga is bad because he’s not. But definitely wouldn’t say he’s the better defender.
WCJ is good, don’t get me wrong, but I think Goga is better at being a deterrent around the rim and a better rebounder. And like basketballrob said, Wendell kinda demands a certain amount of touches on offense while Goga really is just a garbage and cleanup guy, and I think that’s better for defining roles.

Fultz and Wendell take a handful of bad shots per game. AB and Goga just don't shoot, which is better than bad shots.

And ABs off-ball movement and Goga's offensive rebounding are extremely valuable.basketballRob wrote:Fultz and Wendell take a handful of bad shots per game. AB and Goga just don't shoot, which is better than bad shots.

It's asking a lot of Suggs, Franz, and Paolo to carry the offense but I think they are up to it. Fultz and WCJ provide a bit of a safety net in terms of ability to take on some of the offensive load but they might not offer the same level of offensive lift that Paolo, Franz, and Suggs get from AB and Goga.

I was browsing through Wendell's offensive ratings, and they haven't been good ever.eyriq wrote:And ABs off-ball movement and Goga's offensive rebounding are extremely valuable.basketballRob wrote:Fultz and Wendell take a handful of bad shots per game. Did they ever explain what happened during the Paolo and AB tech part of the game?

It's a two fold thing. Black started off hot. Which spreads the floor or at the very least makes opponents pay. I am totally OK if he goes 0-7 for a game or two at this point bringing his number back down to earth. The damage in opponent mindsets is done. Similar to Paulo last year, they will leave him open on his first couple attempts to see which Black shows up.
As horrible as Blacks shot is form wise, if he is left Fultz level wide open regularly he will make opponents pay for it mathematically and thus open up the floor for Paulo + Franz. When you factor in the rest of his intangibles he is actually much better along then we thought. Just doesn't show up in the PPG / AST category yet.

No-no-no. You have a better point then you think.
Fultz + WCJ means WCJ has to play more perimeter then we would like since he plays a better role of giving Paulo + Franz room to operate.
Where is a Black + Suggs backcourt while not lights out shooting still has "just enough" to keep a defense honest and leaves Goga to do his 1 thing very very well.
Edit : I think a starting 5 of Black / Suggs / WCJ / Paulo / Franz would mean WCJ averages 10+ RPG and his 3pts take a dip but his % goes up.
