Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
Dallas has THJ, Holmes and Curry all expiring in 2025. And with Kleber and Powell both having one foot in the grave already, Luka needs to start recruiting Lauri Markannen who's also a UFA in 2025. If Luka makes him see Dallas having a bigger upside than Utah for the next decade, Markannen slots right into that PF slot between Lively and Grant Williams.

Middletone value is all time low. Anyone thinks we can get him? Is he even worth getting right now?

I'd roll the dice with something around THJ/Green, but not pay a 1st...
I wouldn't do it if I'm MIL though...

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
I have been wondering why Mavs or any other team (except 76ers) didn't intend to sign Kelly Oubre Jr. cheap. Does anyone here know?
He is always a decent player to me who happened to play for bad teams in the past, so it is not his fault.
To me, he should be a starter if he is with the Mavs.

Cuz he's blown more kisses to the crowd then passed the ball. Generally been a poor defender and 3pt shooter.GermanFan120 wrote:I have been wondering why Mavs or any other team (except 76ers) didn't intend to sign Kelly Oubre Jr. cheap. Does anyone here know?

Probably similar reasons why we didn’t resign Christian Wood. Doesn’t know his role, is selfish, is a poor defender.
He would never start on a team that already has Kyrie and Luka starting. Can’t half the defense and double the offense when there is only 1 ball.

I didn't wanna compare him to C Wood cuz some are still sensitive about himBeiBeau wrote:GermanFan120 wrote:I have been wondering why Mavs or any other team (except 76ers) didn't intend to sign Kelly Oubre Jr. cheap. Does anyone here know?

I was THE C. Wood defender up until mid February last season. If anybody need to eat crow it’s me. No need for y’all to be sensitive if I’m not.

Honestly didn't know you were a C. Wood defender. He's gone and vibes seem better.

I thought “he’s the perfect weapon for Luka” and “winning will fix his attitude issues”. But was full stop wrong. A dude with C. Wood’s talent should not get out played by Powell consistently.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
Would you guys do Josh Green/Rishaun Holmes for DFS/Sharpe if BKN were willing? DFS knows the system, has chemistry with Luka, and fills a pressing need. Sharpe is another big body we can use.

Well the problem is that we cant trade Green until the summer, so that really complicates any package we can flip him in. At that point, Holmes (and Hardaway for that matter) will be on a large, expiring contract so he also gains a little value in that regard as well.
Im optimistic on what a Green, pick(s), & expiring contracts package can bring in for Dallas... But I would hope that it is worth more than Dorian Finney-Smith

Yea that was my understanding as well, but none of the trade checkers are confirming that. Though thats probably them not being updated.

Yea if BKN would do it if Sharpe were taken out, still should be a deal Dal should jump on. Then look to swap Curry out for a big who can play spot minutes, you have a team.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023/24 Trade thread
Grant Williams has scored only 8 pts in the last 65 minutes on the court and though he is a terrific 3 pt shooter he cant create his own shots. He's also too short to be a impactful defensive player night in night out.
So Mavs need another forward, Kyle Kuzma is 6'9" and has played on a championship team already.
Kuzma at 25 million is a good get. Mavs would give up expiring contracts in Kleber 11 million and Holmes 12 million but sweeten the trade with Hardy 1.7 million.
Why,Kuzma has length, shoot the ball and handle it. For the Wizards they need another young guard while taking on expiring contracts.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023/24 Trade thread
As a Mav fan myself, I'm wondering who would be a better player to target, J.Grant or Capella. I think I'm willing to move a Josh green + Holmes + sweetener combo for grant. Putting Grant in the DJones role would be crazy

If Bulls decide to blow it up, what would you want to pay for Nicola Vučević + Caruso? That's a combination Mavs need. Green + Maxi + Holmes + picks?

We don't need Vuc and his softness, we are already soft like a tofu as a team...
But we need to find our way to get Caruso!!!
