Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Excited to see Wahl shoot 45% from the floor again this season while shooting 95% percent of his shots three feet from the hoop.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I think they should run even more slow backdown post ups in 2023-24 with guys who can't finish the shots. Eventually it has to work

One game of looking like a modern team and its back to the old ways. Of course that's an overreaction/hyperbole but still.
They seemingly did all the stuff we all wanted in the offseason to improve on the issues. Too bad they gave themselves a ridiculous opening schedule so even if things are better a bunch of negativity is still gonna hover around them assuming they lose most of these tough games. Will be an uphill battle all year.

Yeah, I said it before/after last game - I know we have a lot of the team returning and if you can’t beat these teams, “who cares” but play the required power 6 games and beat the **** out of the Arkansas States for your other 8 non-con games since you’re coming off a rough year.
I’m a worrywort, but I’m going to feel the same way when the football team, even if they’ve improved, are sitting at 3-5 next year with a brutal schedule with sentiment already down on the program.
Gard basically risked the program’s momentum/his job by scheduling a brutal schedule so he could teach ‘em some lessons as they get smoked early in the year. He’s not in Tom Izzo’s position nor does he have that sort of talent to do this.

That was ugly ! Throw game tape away , just got steamrolled . obviously the offense is a problem again ! We just can't shoot , plain and simple . when was the last time we had a shot blocker on this team . For being a 7 footer you would think Crowl would be able at least get one or two , hell I'd like it if he could alter a shot .

Yup. Crowl/Wahl have just not taken a further step and are so underwhelming. Providence D copied what MSU does to them every time, just overwhelm us with athletic ball pressure and we just can't handle it.
Two of next 3 are 'cupcakes' with UVA in their too. UVA is on the road but they didn't start the year ranked so at least a game you should be in late. Hopefully can get those 3 before the Marq, MSU, AZ slate.
Side note, the game after with Illinois has Marcus Domask (rumored possible UW transfer) from Waupun vs Marquette.

The issue with Essegian is the same as Winter. It looks like a lot of skill is there but they are ridiculous defensive liabilities. Obviously Essegian can be a good offense player but not as much now that teams guard him farther out.

Because they were such great finishers last year. Must be frustrating to see them struggle this year.

Give Gus all the minutes and let him develop. Run offense through Storr.

On the first part...why? I don't think he's ready to play or that good. This isn't the pros. I'm not sure many people will mind, but "tanking/rebuilding" would get Gard fired.
The Storr part, sure. He's good but also there are going to be some bad shots taken, but probably better than what they're doing.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I was pretty optimistic on this team even after the loss to Tennessee. They had taken a top 10 team essentially down to the wire in a hard fought matchup. But all that goodwill was squashed with last night's performance. So I guess the question then becomes which team is the real Wisconsin Badgers. The team that square up against a great opponent or the team that gets run out of the gym by a mediocre team? I'm not sure we know yet
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I was mostly kidding, but I feel like he'd be able to finish around the rim.

Yeah, I got you. I know he's lauded as crafty/skilled if his skills truly play at the high D1 level, then yeah, he could finish.
But the concern is once again we've got a limited athlete that needs everything to go right to finish against good competition.
