We finally shot the 3 ball like a real NBA team last night. 15 makes was our season high on 47%, we still lost but at least maybe we are going to figure that out.
Rough shooting night for Melo, but loved he stayed in attack mode. 26 shot attempts is his 2nd most for a game, dude just gets no calls driving to the rim. He could have easily shot 6-8 more FT tonight and Miami would have had nothing to gripe about.
Theo now 5/29 from three, how? Does he just not work on his jump shot ever? Leaky is a long-term play, could be our Haywood Highsmith (who the refs let defend like he is Ron Artest) dude was hacking LaMelo all night and then he flops and immediately gets a call.
Nick has been playing super well, Cliff played him the whole 4th quarter over Mark Williams. PJ needs to be this guy all the time, we need him to be this aggressive from 3 moving forward to not get outscored by 30 ppg from 3.
McGowens giving us 12 points in 29 mins felt like a godsend, but that is what a real NBA player should do if given starter mins.
We win this game if we are even half way healthy for sure.

Agreed on all of the above. I expected to get waxed missing the guys we did. LaMelo and PJ had great 1st quarters. It was that second quarter and it is 100% Cliff's fault for risking things again with that lineup. I know we're short, but you put Ish and Theo in together and good night. That should never happen no matter what. The turnovers were the main reason we lost. We knew the Heat would get favored by the refs, they always do. Although I will say, the LaMelo not getting calls thing is concerning. He is doing what he should be doing and when he gets clobbered it's just nothing. There were a few plays that were completely egregious. Which is one thing if you're also calling it on the other side that way, but they weren't. Refs were cooking with Jimmy FT's and like you said this Nesmith dude getting calls like he's a superstar. I hate the Heat so much, imagine if we had the benefits of being a tropical hot spot destination stars wanted to play for due to location and the ref advantage year over year.

Is it because you didn't adjust to the full court press and decided it was smart to use a back court of Theo and Ish with Thor on the wing? Maybe?

If LaMelo got half the calls that Trae Young got he would be a top 15 player. Trae Young is 6 foot and somehow shoots 10 fta per game, half of which come when someone touches him 19 feet away from the hoop. Meanwhile LaMelo has 1 game all year where he has gotten double digit attempts and is on the floor 5+ times a game without a call.
The NBA decides foul calls before the ball is even tipped. Superstars get calls

I think the Ball's have a reputation that rubs a lot of people who don't really know them the wrong way because of LaVar. I think the boomer refs see a guy like LaMelo with all his flair, the way he talks, etc. and just can't accept it. I'm purely speculating, but I think it's a valid possibility because I can't figure out why else they just won't give him the calls like the other stars get. This is where Hornets leadership needs to be out there lobbying and asking the difficult questions.
