Here is my problem. Alot of the guys that are supposedely good at defense... still suck at defense.

Essegian should be playing unless hurt. It's ridiculous.

Chucky/Crowl/Klesmit/Wahl should all be coming off the bench... the lack of effort and basketball intelligence from them is absurd.

Essegian is awful at defense as well. He has effort and some crafty plays, but if you watch, other teams immediately attack him once he's on the court.

They have a lot of one-sided players.

I mean - I get the frustration - but if you have all of those guys coming off the bench...your lineup is...Storr/Blackwell/Essegian, what, Winter and Gilmore?

At this point I'd send a message.

You need to start Blackwell over Chuckles.

Essegian over Klesmit.

Winter over Crowl.

Wahl and Storr can round it out.

The effort given by Chucky and Crowl was atrocious. That kind of display says to me that they have regressed as players and really don't give a ****. Maybe it's an early season thing? I just rewatched the game, i dont know how I did, but the amount of lazy passes by the two of them were pretty high. The defensive effort and hustle was extremely low from these two specifically.

Hopefully Gus Yalden can make his way back. (He has a little substance abuse problem, and apparently a stupidity problem for getting caught in his dorm by the police twice.... you need to keep that on the DL as a college student, especially an athlete.) Probably just a maturity problem more than anything, hopefully.

Klesmit to me is a very clunky version of Zak Showalter / Brad Davison hybrid. He will try to be that energy D guy that can score a little, but he is just short of all three when it comes down to it.

For the love of god...this is the worst stage of Badger sports. Same thing with the, "play Evers" crowd of football fans.

They're playing the best players in both sports. I'll grant that maybe Blackwell is or could be a starter very soon. But sometimes teams just suck or are playing poorly for a stretch but they still want to play their best guys to try to win. In the vast majority of cases, different does not equal better.

For example, Winter is one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen play for Wisconsin. That's not to say I don't think he's going to be a spectacular player down the line. But he will get absolutely throttled out there if he plays over Crowl right now, instead of Crowl who plays below average defense.

The above paragraph - you can basically apply it to Essegian, though I wouldn't put "ever" on the qualification. I have no idea what to make of this, but he shot 28% on 3s in February and March last year. Either he ran out of gas or defenses putting even more attention on him have nerfed his shooting ability.

Is this another Peacock game or not televised tonight? I don't see it listed anywhere.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

BTN+. After tonight - those are over.

I believe there are still 3 or 4 Cock games, most of them being premier B10 matchups.

Unclear on if Virginia is pulling a Virginia (they are quite prone to do so, as we know), or if this is actually a good performance. I haven't seen enough to tell either way.

Blackwell is legit. I have no idea how he got so little attention as a recruit.

Either way its a good performance just to look like a competent good team against a real opponent. Ball is moving, people shooting confidently etc. Sure is UVA legit good this year? Probably not but its not like they suck either. At the least they'll be competent middle of the ACC team. Would be nice to get this win and the next in this tourney under their belt to get a little breathing room before the AZ, Marq, MSU stretch.

Badgers defense looks much more active and the ball is moving better on the other end . I have no idea if it's them or Virginia that's causing it either though.

Wahl has shot about 489 bunnies today and has seemed to miss every one of them.

Another solid 4-13 from the floor.

Pretty sure he started 0-7, pretty much all close to the hoop where goes up so weakly and awkward. They were up 10ish and I looked it up. At the time Chucky was 0-6. So a combined 0/13 for what are supposed to be two of your best players and somehow they still had a solid lead.

I missed most, but a nice win. I was obviously getting pessimistic, but if I was to be an optimist before the game, we’d been on the bad end of shooting variance on both sides in basically every game so far. Bound to change.

I know the back injury may be a thing, but I’m starting to think maybe Essegian may get phased out. He hasn’t shot well for a very long time.

This was a really good performance. Glad to get on the winning side of one of these early games. Through the first 5 games the Badgers already have likely played 3 Q1 games
