No, thank you to Lavine in any iteration of a trade, unless that trade is bringing us back a point guard while re-routing Lavine to that team. It also can't include Herro, JJJ, or Jovic. Herro, JJJ, and Jovic I would only part with for guys like SGA and Haliburton.

Edit: Lowry+Martin+Jovic+pick works in the trade machine. Would the Heat take on the 4/$129mil due to Lavine?

Doubtful, Lowry is Miami's ticket out of the second Apron and clearing space. Miami would be paying some absolute massive taxes the following year, which they aren't known to do. Then youll have a on the court what Lavine, Herro, Jimmy, Highsmith, Bam??? Can Lavine be a primary ball handler, I just don't see it.

Who knows maybe you talk Lavine into being our six man, and run the second unit through him, and let him gun, then we would have some serious scoring punch from the bench. Or do you relegate Herro to the bench as our six man instead, how do you play that out???

Yup I don't see Lavine as some big improvement over Herro and actually Herro's shooting might be the bigger need on this team. I think if they stay patient there will be some better players eventually hitting the trade block. Donovan Mitchell comes to mind after some of the things I've heard coming out of Cleveland. I might be in the minority but actually think this current team could already have enough talent to get out of the EC again with maybe 1-2 moves around the margins.

Lavine and his ego aren’t coming off the bench. Frankly unless he’s available for pennies on the dollar I dont think he is the kind of player this team needs. We should be looking to fortify the point guard position, I’ve seen Tyus Jones name floating around, Utah has some guys that could be options, maybe they spin the block on an old friend in Cali..stranger things have happened. I’m even willing to bring Wall or Dragic in for a workout.

I was browsing the Bulls board and damn near fell out of my seat, one poster commented he’d be “ok” accepting Jovic, Jaime, Highsmith, Lowry and 1 “or” 2 first rounders for Lavine.

Lavine is also 28 and will turn 29 in March. For some reason I thought he was a bit younger.

Sometimes these type guys will blossom in a better situation, look at Lauri at age 25 in Utah last year, but I think Lavine is getting to the point where he is what he is. He'd be great as a 6th man type where he can just put up big scoring numbers but not at his current contract and I also doubt he'd be down with backing up Herro.

Bull fans are going to be real disappointed with the return they get for Lavine. Is he worth that much more than Beal? Maybe they can squeeze out a late FRP since he's younger and doesn't have a NTC but I doubt teams will be lining up. Apparently he might also have a trade kicker that will also need to be taken care of before any teams make that deal.

Miami mentioned as a team that could "possibly" be interested in Lavine. I'll be damned if were willing to add another wing to this team at that cost. We need other things. Caruso gets me interested.

Caruso is a Heat player. Maybe Pat Williams too.

LaVine isn’t our kinda guy IMO.

If we can get Lavine without giving up Tyler, sure I might look into it. But I would rather wait and see if Mitchell becomes available.

Caruso would be an amazing fit with our team.

Oh yeah and Lavine is Klutch. Makes negative sense for the Heat at this point

The more I think about it. I'd just pass on trading for any of the Bulls pieces outside of Coby White. I think he'd ball out down here with our squad.

I would not trade anyone but lowery and maybe Caleb and only if there is a legit pg coming back

we still got time to see if herro and Duncan have indeed made it to the next level....

What did Spoelstra mark for having him out of the rotation?

Many/probably most of us have been hard on him myself included, and it's great to see him playing like his old self again....but he needs to keep it up and consistently. It's been way more down then up for him since the big contract and so i don't think he's done enough for long enough just yet to make us eat crow. I hope it continues, obviously he won't shoot well every night but he's gotta mostly keep this recent form to live up to the expectations. He really does look good right now though!

Return to Miami Heat
