Having Jrue and White long term to team up with Tatum should be a priority. They bring calmness, toughness and grit, and JT plays better with them. I’d get rid of Jaylen first before those two. KP, when healthy, also fits perfectly.

They had to do it before the Season Started. Now they have to wait, I believe until the next Offseason?

Yes....the same timeframe before the season. Roughly three weeks before the season. Let's hope they didn't make a mistake passing on him this past off season

How can it possibly be a mistake? D-White still had 2 years left on his contract - there's no rush.

We'll have the entire offseason next summer to get the extension done - I'm sure it'll happen..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I think he meant, by passing up last off season, DWhite might command a bigger money next off season, especially with the way he’s playing.

Eh, idk. As good as White has been, he was probably just as good last season.

His chances for a big payday were probably highest if he signed the extension prior to this season - since he was coming off an all-NBA defense season, played in all 82 games, had the miraculous tip-in to win an ECF game, had a career-best 3 pt %.

Plus, he'll turn 30 next summer. In a vacuum, a 30 year old FA is probably gonna get a smaller contract than a 29 year old FA..

Probably. But he’s a back up last season that doesn’t even play in closing mins on some games, as opposed to this season. Let’s see.
Just don’t want the Celtics low balling any of Jrue or White.

Do I think it will get done? Probably. But the holdup wasn't by White, we all heard his comments. So either the Celtics wanted to pay him less or they wanted to wait and see. It feels like the Celtics are getting a lot of benefit here (against injury or his play regresses.) They are certainly tapping into White's good disposition. On some level it's a gamble. Brown gets every penny, Tatum will get every penny, Holiday will likely resign -shoot even Pritchard is locked up. All of this taken care of before White. So yes I'm mildly concerned.

Career games from Brissett and Banton with today's "homecourt" advantage. My guess -- JB back but not KP. More Kornet fun for y'all.

What's going on with Porzingod, is he going to play this game, he hurt? I haven't checked any news or anything.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

He banged knees with Julius Randle in the Knicks game. It was visibly bruised and he wasn’t moving well pre-game vs. the Sixers so he was held out. No long-term concern, or so they say. He’s listed as questionable for this game.

From what I read, it was more on White's side. Something about the way it's structured, that he can get more money if he waits a year.
Kinda like when Kyrie waited with us. There's a bigger Payday for White, after this Season.

Pritchard only had 1 year left on his contract when we extended him. JB only had 1 year left on his contract when we gave him supermax. We gave KP an extension this past summer - at the time, he only had 1 year left on his deal.

That seems to be Brad's standard operating procedure. You extend the guy during the summer when he's got 1 year left on his deal.

I believe he did the same thing with Smart and Rob too. He didn't do it with Grant, (we didn't come to an agreement on an extension with him during the summer of 2022) which was certainly foreshadowing that Grant was gonna be gone this past summer.

Next summer, we'll have Tatum, Jrue, White and Al, who will all have 1 year left on their contracts. Plus, Hauser will have a team option which I'm sure the team will pick up. But all 5 of them can get extensions.

I'm not worried about it. It's very rare that a non-superstar player gets an extension when he still has 2 years left on his contract. Again, there's no reason to rush it.

Make all-NBA team if you're 26 and still playing for the team that drafted you - that's the money you get.

It's just an additional year on the extension if he signs it in the upcoming offseason instead.

So the max he could get would be something like $86M/3 yrs last offseason vs. $118.8M/4 yrs upcoming offseason.

My personal opinion is the Jrue acquisition (and potential extension) complicated things. I thought the extension was a no-brainer before we got Jrue. Maybe they want to see what happens with the season first before extending either/both guys. Not my money, so I'd still extend them both.

JRue could choose to opt out and become a free agent. Better to extend him now if possible.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Trade Jaylen Brown for Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges. Surely they would want to consolidate their assets for a superstar. Then use the savings to resign Derrick White.

Have to wait six months after Cs acquired him. So around early April.

Strolling down memory lane... Game in Toronto countless moons ago.

Possibly the only late-game play Joe has in his playbook lol. Courtesy of Brad.

Only ones in the league that were on that roster -- Olynyk, Smart, Crowder, and Jeff Green.
