Take out the first month of the year, and Chapman was a below average hitter the rest of the year. His defense was very good, but it is a terrible mistake to tie up 25 million a year on Chapman on a long-term deal. It is double what he was making this year (12 million). I am hoping Shapiro/Atkins come to their senses, and realize that there is a better use of that money elsewhere. Hope this rumour is not true.
