Just a reminder Caruso was all nba 1st team defense last year and is currently shooting 45% from 3 on 3 attempts early on this season.
He would help a ton against Dame, Maxey, Mitchell/Garland, Brunson/RJ, Trae/Murray, and Bostons perimeter guys in the playoffs.

And it really isn’t him. It’s that Jimmy gets too passive when they play together. We need to stagger those minutes as much as possible.
This won't be possible in the playoffs.
Jimmys passive because it’s the regular season and he also didn’t have a preseason. This will be nothing when the playoffs get here
We keep playing better when he is out. I don’t want to blame him because he has played damn well. But it’s concerning.
It’s been 4ish years but I am at the point where I again think Duncan just works better with the starters. Full circle. Jimmy plays better when he has to create with shooters around him. When Herro and Jimmy play heavy minutes together, one will be underutilized.

I don’t get the Lavine hate as he’s a good all star level guy, this move would be great for this team, you keep Herro too and now we have 4 guys that can go for 30 on any given night but do it on different ways in most cases.
A LaVine and Herro backcourt?
165 million next year in 5 players... Butler, LaVine, Bam, Herro and Robinson?
No... the only way this works past this year is if one of the 3 top salaries is moved for an upgrade which would point towards Herro. Lowry is probably only going to get moved for players coming back that are mostly expiring, this franchise isn't looking to be in the repeater tax.

Herro isn't a dominate enough offensive player to get the shots he gets as a one-way player.
Maybe it's time for people to star looking into the Ewing Theory?

Swap Duncan for martin. Idc, moves are needed to go over the top. We’re playing well right now against mediocre teams but don’t be fooled in to thinking this is a championship team. Nuggets will still be too overwhelming if we even get there.

I mean I’m fine with getting off of Herro too if the right move comes around. Especially if you can find a way to snag a Caruso/Lavine backcourt without giving him up.
We’ve shown he isn’t necessary to us winning several times but like I said we’re beating mediocre teams right now, which is also nice don’t get me wrong because they usually beat the **** out of us and then we’ll turn around and smack the bucks by 40

I think people need to start looking at the financials past this year, this team will probably not be in the tax next year so whatever trades you want to look at, you need to really look at the financial reality. It seems the FO was given the OK to go into the tax long term by acquiring Lillard but not Beal. So, you have to find a star who's minimum level is better than being Beal to have a chance to keep all 3 of Butler, Bam and Herro while adding another big contract. Forget about Miami already having Lowry, that's expiring to get Miami under the tax again next year.

It’s not that I even want him gone. I want him there for the non Jimmy minutes and the Jimmy rest days. I understand he probably makes too much for that role.
But when they play together and Jimmy becomes an off ball player, it just doesn’t work as well.

I would be HIGHLY surprised if Jaquez Jr is moved, he's proving to be a player (I hope he ends up around 30 minutes a game this year) and is under team control for the next 4 years on a very cheap contract, he won't even make 4 mil a year until his 4th year, he's going to be an incredible value that allows a team to take some chances with some players at higher contracts.

JJJ is a crafy bounce passer, he has worked around the defense a few times with oddly bounced passes...not really like trick bounces...but close....and that pass to bam under the basket was nuts. JJJ was falling down, and we have seen so many turnovers under the basket in recent years I expected the worse, but even off balance and falling down that pass was clean and perfect....

Re: Miami Heat 2023/2024 Regular Season - Thread 2.0
Did anyone hear what Jimmy said has been the difference maker during the streak? Someone can find his postgame press conference and post it here but it was something along the lines of:
Reporter/Ira (paraphrasing): “What has been the difference during this win streak?”
Jimmy: “Haywood.”
Reporter: (puzzled and waiting for additional reasons)
Jimmy: “Because he’s starting.”
Now, I know Jimmy was trying to leave but it seemed very sincere. Very high praise.
We were all glad to have Highsmith back and I knew he’d be a great fit in that role. He was just trending too well as the season/playoffs ended last year.

With Caleb having the player option for next year and expecting him to get at least the MLE (13 mil) at the minimum (and it's probably his last chance to get good money with good years) with him more proven now, adding a really good player who's under contract next year for just under 10 mil a year who can play PG is a good move.
After Lowry expires Miami can offer nontaxpayer mle to keep Martin.
I do like Caruso, though, just not enough to give up Martin.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

I believe a couple of us have mentioned this from time to time, at the very beginning of the season I found this. I do remember posting a Rico Hines UCLA run from 2022 where it showed a very nice find by Jaquez Jr from a botched play.
AirP. wrote:Twix2500 wrote:I'm surprise many are not excited in what they seen in JJJ. You have a guy who the Heat can give the ball and say go make a play. And soon a guy who is closing games this year.
I expect Jaquez Jr to be a long-term starting level player who they can run some offense through. I've thought this since seeing him play in Rico Hines games in 2022, his passing vision is also better than what he's shown so far.
My hope is that Jaquez Jr makes C.Martin expendable this season and Marin and his player's option are packaged with others in a consolidation package.

I'd expect that would be the minimum level of contract offered to him and if he's as good as people expect him to be, why wouldn't he get anything near what Strus got or better next offseason?

Right... and to worry about that is to deal with creating or not creating that situation for next year. Beal was there for basically pennies on the dollar and Miami didn't really call back Washington which is more about being in the tax for multiple years then not wanting him.
