Yeah seeing people post that he should start over Rozier makes me giggle.

Yeah I think we still lose by 31 if Terry plays and starts tonight

The team is just really bad and have quit on the coach already

And this is why I feel bad for him. Previous years he got his stats and looked intense at times but he just seemed happy go lucky or whatever that term is. This season even after the monster contract he's looked intense and engaged and we're still losing. It's bothering him too.

To be honest I could give two **** who starts. I think it's stupid how people try to say who should or shouldn't start when both players will get 30 minutes anyway. That being said a coach will typically start his best 5, and Rozier is better than Miller by a good bit currently.

I don't know why we keep playing Hayward through injury.

He always plays badly when he's hurt and is likely to hurt himself worse.

Regardless of whether we plan to keep him for this season, resign him (bleh) or trade him, he needs to be healthy.

I made a lengthy post in the Mark Williams thread a couple days ago about this very thing after Gafford stuffed him 3x on the same possession.

He badly needs to learn a proper hook shot to harness his length and it would solve all of his problems in that regard.

i remember you compared him to Mutumbo, similarly I think it will take a couple of years for the offense to come for Mark as he concentrates on adjusting to the NBA with his defending and rebounding.

I think he's just not a tricksy player in general.

he brings the ball lower than he has to when he gets offensive rebounds in the paint (thanks Dean Smith, I can't ever not think that about bigs going back to when I was a kid), and he's too deliberate in going up for second chance buckets. it makes him predictable.

anybody with length can get him right now if they're 5% faster off their feet than him. and he's a condor out there, not exactly twitchy.

Had the same thought watching but just saw this and I'm like oh that makes more sense at least on that play

After a rough few games to start, it looks like Melo has taken that next half-to-a-full step.

He still gets careless at times, but I've seen him play harder (in spurts) this year than ever before.

He also seems more willing and able to drive to the cup looking for contact. He's just not getting any calls.

Tonight was another classic PJ game. Is there anyone on the roster as randomly up and down as he is?

nothing he won't see for the rest of his career tbh. but yes, that's definitely going to make it easier to block his shot

Yeah I think why the mutumbo comparison was apt, he was like that as well until Lenny Wilkens worked on his offensive side

offensively Williams is starting from a point farther along than Mutumbo imo, because he has like the softest hands ever for lobs and post entries. and he's more fluid when he actually gets his shot off. he lacks the preternatural shot-blocking instincts and (as of right now) the toughness and strength in post defense of Mutumbo, though. no shame in that, not many can match him there.

I'm not worried about Mark. I don't even know if he's played 60 nba games yet. He'll be okay.

Went to the game and man Melo really played his heart out. Glad to see him dispell rumors I was hearing this offseason that he was just a dummy that doesn't care about winning

With that said I really hope we start winning around him. It has to be incredibly frustrating to see peers like Hali and Ant take leaps in their stats and win% while he is stuck getting the same results (if not worse) then when he entered the league

MIL 48% from 3. Every team lights this team up from 3. Isn’t Clifford’s coaching reputation built on defense? #fireclifford

I really wish they would try to nab Jordi Fernandez from the Kings before someone else does. Try to get Jay Triano to come over with him to be lead assistant to run the offense.

We continue to be 29th in 3pt FG% and are now 28th in OPP 3pt FG%. Jeebers. Look, our guys need to shoot better but this reeks coaching issue.

16th in offensive rating
30th in defensive rating
29th in net rating
30th in 3pt attempts per 100
29th in 3pt%
26th in 3pt makes per 100
24th in assists per 100

Compare to last Borrego/Triano season

8th in offensive rating
22nd in defensive rating
16th in net rating
9th in 3pt attempts per 100
6th in 3pt%
6th in 3pt makes per 100
2nd in assists per 100

Clifford has only had Miles for one game, but Borrego/Triano didn't have Brandon Miller or Mark Williams. LaMelo and Hayward have played pretty much all the games so far. There is no excuse for this team to have this much trouble generating good shots or moving the ball.

JB got fired primarily because we **** the bed in embarrassing fashion in the play in twice and didn't look ready to play in either game.

If we're gonna play the "we were better off with JB" angle, we should wait and see how we finish out the season and look to see what the postseason looks like.
